1985 Mercedes 380SL, 111,000 Miles Clean, original, unmolested car:
I purchased this car from what was believed to be the 3rd owner, a
business executive from Florida. From the records that came with
the car, it has been a southern car its entire life. I was given a
large binder of repair history that starts out with a copy of the
original window sticker and maintenance receipts form NEW forward
to the present. Looking through the receipts it is easy to see that
money spent on the car was no object to the owners. The car has
always been looked after by professional Mercedes mechanics, and
appears to have been garaged and well cared for its entire life.
Some of the latest investment in the car are its new professionally
installed German soft top. All Fluids have been changed (brake,
antifreeze, transmission, and differential). Idles smooth,
accelerates without hesitation, shifting automatically with ease
through every gear. It has 4 new tires, new battery, brakes and
rotors on all 4 corners. This 380SL came from the factory with the
duel row timing chain that the earlier 380sl's did not have. This
beautiful 380SL has current NJ historic registration and clean NJ
title. The paint and body show very well shiny and clean; however,
the paint is beginning to show its age. It looks great, but in some
sections the clear cost is beginning to fade and blemish (lifting
on the top of the DS fender an a section by the tonneau cover for
example) as shown in the pictures. Which i was told can be
corrected. There is no rust or dents on the car, no signs of
previous body damage. The exterior color is Signal Red with a light
Palomino/Saddle interior. The interior is in great shape (NO rips
or stains), as is all the trim, wood and carpets. The Heat and A/C
work very well, as do all the mechanicals on the car. The sound
system is the original Becker radio and it works perfectly as it
was rebuilt by Becker in 2018, but the digital display is flakey.
