Hoffman Motors Corporation of New York, New York delivered this 356
to the first owner Dr. Grasselli of Cleveland, Ohio. Originally
finished in Oslo Blue (6203) with Red leatherette interior. At one
point the body was repainted black over the original Oslo Blue
paint. This is a very complete 356B T6 Cabriolet, not running or
driving, and will need a complete restoration. The undercarriage
will require metalwork including new floor pans, longitudinals,
jack spurs, and closing panels. The interior is complete with the
original red leather front seats, rear seats, AM/FM Blaupunkt
radio, and VDO instrumentation. Matching number 1600cc Super engine
and 4-speed manual 741 transmission with four-wheel drum braking
system. Complete with original keys, driver's manual, Kardex, jack,
spare tire, and tonneau cover. Excellent opportunity to acquire a
matching numbers 356B Cabriolet project!
History: The 356 B T6 body was the last 356 body change until the
end of production. It was introduced in September 1961 for the 1962
to 1963 model year. It featured four-wheel ribbed drum brakes all
around with better cooling, as well as three options of the 1600cc
pushrod engine. The rear deck now had twin grills for better
cooling of the engine, the front hood was squared off in the front
and the fuel tank was changed to include an outside fuel fill with
a fuel door. The best of all the 356 transmissions was the 741,
which was like shifting threw butter with full synchromesh manual
4-speed and of course, the ZF steering box made the 356s a joy in
the corners!
