1981 Excalibur Phaeton Series IV
VIN: 1XAPF4318BM817576
These highly sought after cars were not kit cars, but rather hand built in an old Studebaker manufacturing facility from the late 60s into the early 1980s to a very exacting standard. Styled after the 1928 Mercedes-Benz SSK, the Excaliburs were powered by Chevrolet engines and were known for their 0-60 performance at less than 6 seconds. Just over 3500 Excalibur cars were produced in the Milwaukie, Wisconsin plant. Phyliss Diller, who owned 4 of these great cars, was a notable champion of the car!
Recently discovered in a storage facility, this extremely low mile, original 1981 Excalibur is presented at auction showing only 3100 miles on the odometer! The car is complete, and is in average condition being nearly 40 years old. Up close there are paint and clear-coat blemishes and issues that could be addressed with touch-ups or just enjoy the car as it is. The interior is in excellent condition having seen very little use. The wood dash and accents are very presentable having been well preserved.
Mechanically, this Excalibur was brought back to life and ready for the road! Tires are in good condition and the wire spoke wheels gives this car an excellent stance on the road!
