I bought this car in May of 1971 in Whittier California (always a SoCal Vehicle). I was a senior in high school (you can do the math for my age). I was the third owner and the car was four years old at the time. The original color was GM gold and the car was perfect in every way. It was fun showing it off during my last month of high school. It was highly reliable as my daily driver going to college and work.
Several years later I started working for one of the big car companies and began driving a new car. As such, my Impala began its new role as a show car. With car shows in mind I decided to invest in the vehicle and make it a project car. As such, I completely rebuilt the engine with almost every component, nut and bolt being replaced. I then gutted the interior down to bare metal. To start, I painted the interior metal with marine gray paint for added protection. Then came all new upholstery (seats, headliner, carpet, rear package tray, dash, center console). Next a new custom paint job with metal work to correct any imperfection. Finally, the extras: Chrome Cragar wheels, BF Goodrich Radial T/A tires, 6-disc CD player, speakers, re-chromed bumpers, window weather stripping, emblems, aluminum side molding polishing.
When not in use, the car is protected in my garage with soft covers to always keep it clean.
Of course the car always starts perfectly and runs great. I’ve always been very picky with keeping the car in good shape and I am hopeful that the new owner does the same for the next 50 years.
