Vehicle Description
1974 VW Beetle on a 10 year old restoration.Personal driver and
Summer time Toy with approximately 97,000 original miles. I put on
less than 10,000 mile since I've owned it. This vehicle was
purchased near Tucson Arizona 20 years ago. The A Frame and
underside were just as clean as if it were sand blasted. I started
doing restoration work on it right away while still driving it in
the summer. Winter times it has always gone into storage as soon as
they started salting the roads. During this time I repaired the
Heat/Defrost cables and baffle seals (by the way it has an
excellent Heater), Clutch, Brakes and master brake cyl., new Tires,
Speed-o cable, upholstered Front Seats, new Battery, Valve Job and
new Heads, but needs a Radio. After the engine work, the valves
were kept adjusted every couple years. Then proceeded to do a full
Body restoration. Fenders, Rims and other parts were Sand Blasted
and body was taken down to bare metal, removing several layers of
paint. It was primed, and painted Base Coat/Clear Coat Rust Orange.
New Stainless Steel Running boards, Head liner, All new rubber
window, and body seals, with a few extra pieces of Chrome on the
body and Head Light covers. Also a full body undercoating was done
in order to preserve the underside from the humidity of South
Central Pennsylvania. The doors are tight and with the windows shut
it's hard to shut the doors at times because of the tight Cabin
Air. It's a pleasure to drive, shifts well and runs good for a
little 4 cyl. Engine. Plus you get a lot of heads turned driving
this sharp little car that is a sweet memory in many peoples minds
of days gone by. The Little Love Bug affectionately called Herbie
the Luv Bug (53). This is a prime vehicle for the serious Auto
Collector. You will get hours of enjoyable driving. It sits very
comfortable with surprising leg room. This vehicle is a driver on a
10 year old restoration. It has a few flaws and is not a showroom
collection.
