Nineteen sixty-nine was the final year for the first-generation
Camaro and for many collectors, the Z/28 is the ultimate
derivation. It was fast, not only in a straight line, but also
around corners. It drove like a real sports car, with a
high-revving small block, and came only with a four-speed and
decent brakes. Performance was taken entirely to another level when
the very rare and desirable Holley Cross Ram dual four-barrel
intake manifold option was selected. This horsepower-increasing
option was not installed at the factory but rather delivered inside
a glorious GM box found in the trunk for dealer or owner
installation. A few enthusiasts also noticed option code JL8, which
put a set of Corvette disc brakes on all four corners of the Z/28.
Only about 56 JL8 Camaros were delivered from the factory - the few
that survive are the most desirable Z/28s built. The Z/28 offered
here is a rare factory-original JL8-equipped, fully documented,
numbers-matching 1969 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 Cross Ram Sport Coupe.
This stunning Z/28 has been restored to perfection in its original
color of code 76 Daytona Yellow and is still powered by its
original 290 horsepower 302 V8 and quintessential numbers-matching
Muncie 4-speed manual transmission. Power steering and the power
disc brakes connect the Chevrolet Rally wheels and Goodyear
Polyglas tires securely to the road. The trim tag shows this car to
have been built in the Norwood Assembly plant during the 4th week
of March in 1969 and notes the car as being an X77 code car.
Included with this exceptional muscle car is the original
Protect-O-Plate as well as its Concours Gold Certificate and Awards
from the Muscle Car Nationals. This very collectible Z/28 surely
fits the bill of what an American Muscle car should be and is ready
to capture the blue ribbon at your next car show! Stock Number:
