Offered here for sale is a cool Thing for your garage. This 1974
Volkswagen Thing also known as the Type 181- is rust-free thanks to
having been completely restored inside and out. This unique vehicle
is outfitted with a rebuilt 1.6L H4 rear-mounted, air-cooled
engine, a 4-speed manual transmission, and rear-wheel drive. These
fun vehicles have been climbing in collectability in recent years.
This example is finished in Dark Copper metallic with a Tan soft
top and White vinyl seats. These vehicles are extremely versatile.
Top comes off, windows come off, doors come off, back seats fold
down, and the windshield folds down. Useful in a variety of
situations, but in our minds this Thing is the perfect vehicle for
a day at the beach. The exterior features chrome wheels, side brush
bars, bonnet brush bar, tube frame bumpers front and rear, dual
exhaust, and the usual angular body work. Overall the exterior is
in very nice condition, we dare say it is close to being as clean
as when it left the showroom. The car starts on command and drives
great. Shifting, suspension, and handling are The spartan interior
features upgraded CD/radio deck, 3-spoke steering wheel, wooden
floor grates, new upholstery on the seats, and the soft top is
pristine. In the engine compartment is a rebuilt and very clean,
1600cc flat four engine mated to a 4 speed manual transmission.
This Thing starts on command and drives great; shifting and
suspension/handling are all dialed in. This vehicle is a great
collector car that you can enjoy on your way to the beach or the
weekend car show. It will continue to appreciate over time if taken
care of, and WILL get attention wherever driven and/or seen. Be
