The 2019 Chevrolet Tahoe RST was all about delivering the meanest
SUV around. But you'll discover that there have been some nice
investments in this one to make sure it's a true custom. So while
this is a fresh low-mileage vehicle that's still under factory
warranty, it's also an unforgettable unique midnight machine.
RST means Rally Sport Truck, and so this Tahoe was already an
expensive SUV straight from the factory only meant for the upper
echelons. But while the factory version kept plenty of original
Chevy DNA, this one looks more like it graduated from Special
Forces school. T-Rex metal grille sets the tone perfectly with its
clean, dark, and premium chainmesh presentation. They expertly
deleted the badging for a smooth look, and it only gets sleeker
thanks to the hard shine of the ceramic coating on the factory
black paint. The upgrade to the 22-inch Lexani wheels have a
premium glossy black to ideally match the paint. In the rear, the
full pillar tail lamps of the Cadillac Escalade are a true premium
finishing touch. And because this blackout SUV looks so mean, the
hints of red in places like the brake calipers and LED lights in
the grille really make this one look like it's out for blood.
As a true range-topping model, the RST is a terrifically loaded
machine. There are two-rows of supple leather bucket seats. The
front ones even power adjust to the ideal position. Plus, you have
dual-zone automatic climate control and heated/ventilated seats, so
it's easy to dial-in your individual ideal temperature. You also
have power windows, power locks, keyless entry/alarm, keyless
ignition, tilt steering column, power steering, cruise control,
power sunroof, and a fold-down Blu-Ray DVD screen for rear
entertainment. The front has a full touchscreen infotainment system
that runs the stereo, satellite radio, navigation system,
Bluetooth, backup camera, and more. And while the ultra-low mileage
means there was barely time to even put a crease in the seats,
there was time to add plenty of custom pieces. There's custom RST
sewing everywhere from the headrests to the rear carpeting
w/diamond-stitched inserts. And speaking of the rear, there are
items like the subwoofer enclosure and storage compartment that
were made just for this vehicle. You even have a full control over
the color of the ambient lighting package.
Living up to the Rally Sport Truck's namesake is the large
6.2-liter fuel-injected V8. It's the big V8 for the Tahoe/Suburban
series producing a big 420 horsepower. The RST even has an optional
Borla exhaust for the right sport truck tune. And because this is a
modern machine, you also get the excellent 10-speed automatic
transmission. This unit is found in cars like the Camaro, and so it
also knows how to give you both quick kick-downs into performance
as well as easy highway cruising. The RST continues its comparison
to Corvettes and Camaro s with pieces like the big Brembo
four-wheel power disc brakes package and the expensive optional
magnetic ride control suspension.
Complete with owner's manual packet and third row seat, the RST was
