Vehicle Description
We've featured some amazing Corvette pro-tourers over the past few
years. And this LS-powered Sting Ray is the latest in a long line
of metal that seems to come in, spend one week being universally
admired, and disappear to a new home. By definition, pro-touring
resto-mods are virtually irresistible because they combine
everything great about modern performance with everything loved in
vintage style. And who doesn't enjoy cruising a classic that mixes
the best attributes of old school Detroit muscle with the killer
performance of modern American icons? As a national award winning
custom that delivers on every level, this sweet Chevy is the kind
of car you simply CAN'T ignore. It wraps a spry Street Shop
chassis, a tough Tremec 5-speed and 6.2 liters of hot LS small
block in a tasteful restoration which oozes the kind of style that
made second-generation Corvettes the stuff of legend. Looking for
an impressive classic that'll fare well on the road AND at the
show? Check out this awesome Chevy!
YELLOW, DONE RIGHT!
The pride and joy of an avid collector who has restored over 10
classics, this C2 benefitted from a detailed, ground-up restoration
that earned it a Blue Ribbon Award in NCRS Concours Stock Division
judging. That build, a five year affair that transformed the car
from a solid driver to a brutal pro-touring resto-mod, married a
fully stripped body with a carefully modified floorpan. A killer
coat of bright Sunfire Yellow two-stage put the icing on the cake.
And today, lean, mean, timeless and classy, this sweet Sting Ray
rolls as a spectacular piece of iconic American muscle that's
detailed to better-than-new standards.
Aggressive styling wrapped in aggressive paint is one thing. But,
for this Vette to be completely over-the-top, the restorers added a
full roster of fresh, handpicked details. At the front of the car,
polished bumpers center a stainless-trimmed grille between small
parking lamps. Behind those lamps, a stylish Stinger Hood plants a
glossy stripe between crossed flags and bold "427" emblems. That
badging boosts ego through pristine glass that's seated in polished
frames and cleared by polished wipers. At the edges of those
blades, a louvered profile floats polished handles and a familiar
bowtie mirror above color-keyed rockers and rowdy side-pipes. And
at the back of the car, two more polished bumpers reflect a yellow
fuel filler, a polished tag pocket and sporty taillights.
FIVE-TWENTY-FIVE
Professionally installed by the experts at Athens, Alabama's Street
Shop Inc., this Vette's divine GM small block, officially known as
the Chevrolet Performance LS376/525, twists respectable 10.7 to 1
compression into 525 horsepower and 486 lb./ft. of torque! At the
top of the block, a tidy Vibrant Performance air tube funnels wind
in to a proven GM throttle body, which fronts a lightweight GM
intake. That air meets spark in rectangular-port L92-style heads,
which ride under a billet-tinged AVS Motorsports Speedcover that,
by itself, rang up to a cool $1,000. A nodular crank, powdered
connecting rods and hypereutectic pistons compress that volatile
union. A racing-inspired ASA cam maximizes intake efficiency
through better breathing. Speaking of breathing, that smooth
valvetrain funnels spent gases through short, stainless headers.
There's a proven DeWitts radiator that's slid in front of dual SPAL
puller fans. And, as you likely deduced from our high-resolution
photos, the all-aluminum mill is complemented with niceties like
braided fluid lines, a polished expansion tank and quality AC Delco
plug wires.
GO LIKE NEW!
Park this Sting Ray on a lift and you'll find a first class Street
Shop chassis that, like the car's drivetrain, was installed by the
pros of the same name. Those boxed bones ride a fully independent
sixth-generation Corvette suspension that's finished with
adjustable QA-1 coil-overs. Behind the stout small block, a tough
Tremec TKO600 5-speed twists power to a requisite Dana 44 that's
packed with a limited-slip differential and sporty, 3.50 gears.
Turns come courtesy of power rack-and-pinion steering. Smooth and
solid stops are provided by C6-spec Brembo calipers, which utilize
a Wilwood master cylinder and trusty Hydratech hydroboost to
squeeze a quartet of C6 rotors. And custom CCW wheels, which spin
quality Michelin Pilot Sports, are a nice finishing touch to the
car's aggressive stance.
SIMPLE IS GOOD
Slip in to this coupe's delightfully traditional cockpit and settle
on firm bucket seats that are wrapped in smooth leather upholstery.
A dual-cowl dash founds crisp factory telemetry beside controls for
Vintage Air conditioning and upgraded AM/FM audio. A shallow
console traces a tasteful shifter. And in front of the driver, a
stylish Chevrolet steering wheel laps a tilting column.
Who doesn't want a 1967 Corvette that's better than new in
virtually every way? Thanks to its fresh restoration, this vivid
coupe retains authentic Motor City feel while adding modern
components to an already awesome ownership experience. If you're in
the market for a storied classic that's fully detailed and ready to
hit the road, welcome to the Chevrolet family!
