Porsche's Boxster was introduced in 1997, a contender in the
roadster market for the German automaker. Styling harked back to
the original Porsche 356 and the rare 550 Spyder of the 1950s. The
'Boxster' name blended the design of the horizontally opposed
engine (boxers) and the body style of the car (roadster). Unlike
many classic roadsters, the Boxster was wonderfully stable and
reliable - ready to give it's all. The mid-engine 2.7L aluminum
flat-six outputs 217bhp and 192lb/ft of torque. It is simply a
smaller version of the 3.4L Carrera powerplant that is naturally
aspired and water-cooled. Intake utilizes Sequential Multi-Port
Injection in conjunction with Variocam technology and a DOHC
24-valve configuration. The engine is backed by a five-speed manual
RWD transaxle w/traction control. Steering is power-assisted and
4-wheel ABS power disc brakes w/298mm ventilated discs provide
stopping power. The front-end appearance is similar to that of the
911 coupe, but farther back the Boxster has its own assertive
profile based on the mid-engine configuration. The Porsche's
original Lapis Blue Metallic finish is in very good condition and
is accented by 18" alloy wheels. The blue power-operated fabric top
has a factory liner and plastic rear window. A power rear spoiler
and front and rear fog lights are standard. Two occupants enjoy
factory leather-trimmed, body-hugging bucket seats with power
recliner (driver). An optional wind deflector mounts behind the
seats to reduce turbulence when the top is down. The nearly
vertical steering wheel telescopes in and out. Standard equipment
includes climate-control air conditioning, dual airbags, power
mirrors, power windows/locks, cruise, an AM/FM stereo system and
theft-deterrent system. This Porsche Boxster is a safe, responsive
performance roadster that should move very quickly. ALL VEHICLES
SOLD "AS IS".
