Vehicle Description
This is a 1989 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ62 that has been extensively
modified. You are looking at a mostly original paint Land Cruiser
with Patina, some stone chips, some clear peeling, etc. It is a
solid and rust free truck and I will detail the body and underside
condition below. I purchased from an individual in Oregon who had
done quite a bit of work to it and when I received the truck I did
a lot more. I will detail the work that was done below. I will say
that the work he had completed on this rig was done professionally
and was very high quality as I did not have to repair anything
mechanically. I only upgraded and added items for my preference.
The miles on the Odometer are actual for the truck itself. I will
detail the miles for the LS Swap in that part of the description.
This Beast runs and drives amazing with no issues and obviously
does not lack for power now. Cruise 80-85 MPH down the highway with
one hand on the wheel and go up any hill without bogging
down....what a difference with the High Output L33 5.3 Liter
Aluminum V8. I do have a lot of receipts that will come with the
vehicle for parts, past maintenance, etc.

Following is what I did when I received the vehicle:
When I received the Land Cruiser I went through and checked
everything and was very happy that almost everything worked. I
found the passenger window would not go down with the driver main
switch panel so I bought a new Toyota Replacement and it now works.
Power Locks were sticking on rear doors so took apart doors and
lubed them so they work now. The carpet was okay but I wanted it
nicer so I installed more plush carpet and removed interior to do
it right. While interior was removed I lizard skinned the entire
floor for protection, sound deadening, and insulation. New Carpet
looks amazing. I also installed BMW 3 Series Seats at that time
from a 2014 BMW which are so much more comfortable. Brackets were
purchased from TorFab (Stock Recovered Seats in like new condition
will go with truck). I also installed an ARB Fridge and ARB wiring
kit for the Fridge. The Fridge sits on a slider so when the
tailgate is open you can pull it out for easy access.
On the exterior I added a Vinyl hood blackout from crawlorado.com
and coated the roof with lizard skin since most of the clear was
off and it was quite faded. Chrome Mirrors were also coated. I
removed the rear bumper because I wanted to check the lower rear
quarters for rust and found that they were bubbling. I purchased
lower quarters from Cruiser Corps and had the best body shop in our
area replace both the inner and outer quarters on both sides of the
vehicle. There is no bondo in this vehicle and that is the only
metal replaced. They did an amazing job and had them rustproofed as
well. It cost me $4500 to do this the correct way. Other than that
the paint is original and shows some cool patina and character.
We all know how slow these vehicle are, so the last thing I did was
replace that straight 6 engine with a 5.3 Liter High Output Chevy
V8 (L33) with matching Transmission. This is the Aluminum Block L33
engine so it weighs just a little less than the stock engine. The
engine and transmission had around 98,000 miles on them and i have
put around 3500 miles open it since the swap. The guy who did this
work builds custom sand rails, jeeps, and other vehicles and does
amazing work. The first thing he did was crack the engine to make
sure everything looked good. He added a mild cam and resealed
before installing in the Land Cruiser. Transmission was serviced as
well. There are absolutely no leaks. The pictures speak for
themselves as far as the quality of the work. He used the stock
transfer case and purchased the adapter kit from Advanced Adapters.
What a difference this makes to this vehicle. All of the gauges
were hooked up and work properly except for the tach, which is
common for it not to work with this swap. I added a Scan gauge
which plugs into the OBD port and it shows the tach, temp, volts,
and speed. Everything works on this vehicle: Lights, gauges,
wipers, horn, washers, ac, heat, 4wd, windows, locks, radio. Rear
Heat was removed during LS Swap.
When I bought this truck it came with FJ40 rims which looked cool,
but were too skinny for the tires and weight of the vehicle. They
rode like crap at higher speeds so I bought 5 new American Racing
AR172 Rims and had the tires installed (what a difference!). The
last thing I did was coat the underside with Eastwood Encapsulator.
The reason I did this was because if I ever went off road it would
protect it from moisture. The underside was and is clean and solid.
Of course there was some surface rust and that was also part of the
reason for coating the underneath. There are no holes or hidden
rust and this truck is solid and ready to take on your next
expedition or use it as a daily driver. This is probably as
Turn-Key of this era Land Cruiser you will find. I have only had it
about a year and only drove it in the nice months. It has never
seen salt or a winter in my possession. I am only selling because I
want to buy a a Luxury Sports Sedan or Coupe since I already own a
couple of other 4WD Vehicles.
