Motorcar Studio is pleased to offer this 1963 Chrysler Newport
Convertible. This Newport was sold new through Wagstaff Chrysler on
Spring Street in Atlanta (some neat history and period photos of
this dealership can be found here
https://theoldmotor.com/?p=169486). It was purchased in January of
1964 by a lady in Atlanta who kept it until 2009 when she sold it
to the current owner, a long-time friend. 98,000 believed original
miles.
Powered by a 361 cubic inch V8 with a Torqueflite push-button
automatic. Optioned with power steering, power brakes, power
windows and power top. Although it shows to a driver standard
cosmetically, it's seen lots of service and refurbishment work over
the past ten years - front end rebuild, brakes, radiator/cooling
system rebuild, exhaust, transmission reseal, electronic ignition,
seat upholstery, speedometer rebuild and calibration, AM/FM
conversion/rebuild of original radio with new speakers and
more.
This Newport runs and drives surprisingly well and is solid overall
- it was repainted to a fair standard many years ago and has a
number of paint flaws along with some bubbling on the rockers, but
the car is straight and the underside is in good original
condition.
Drive and enjoy as-is (this is a great weekend cruiser or parade
car) or take it to the next level. Hagerty reports that only 2,176
Newport convertibles were produced for the '63 model year - that
rarity along with known history to new, stacks of service records,
original owners manual and warranty book make this an interesting
choice and an excellent value.
