you?re looking for an off roader that could play a role in the next
Mad Max film, you found it. This Jeep Wrangler Unlimited has been
heavily modified, with its standard exterior covered in all steel
urethane painted black armor, complete with small spikes and LED
foglights, headlights and rear taillights. Its doors and side glass
have been removed, leaving only the structural safety frames. The
hardtop is gone too, replaced by a canvas roof and a type of
netting over the cargo bay and rear seat. This Jeep is much like a
modern large side by side but is sold with a title and is street
legal! The overall exterior fit and finish is fine; the black
urethane guards against minor abrasions. The Jeep?s body is
otherwise straight and solid. The engine bay is tidy and the
vehicle is ready for its next adventure with a new owner. There?s a
22.5-gallon fuel tank and the Jeep has a 116-inch wheelbase. It
rolls on Yokohama Geolander X-MT light truck tires, size
37x12.50R17 at every corner. Each tire is mounted to a black and
silver Rockstar off-road wheel. The tires and wheels are all in
very good order. This example was made in Chrysler?s South Toledo,
Ohio factory and left the assembly line with the following
equipment: cloth seats, six-speed manual transmission, trailer tow
group, power convenience group, traction control, electronic roll
mitigation. This Jeep has power mirrors but are currently
inoperable. This vehicle was shipped to Missouri, where it was
originally sold. Under the hood is Chrysler?s 3.8L pushrod V-6
(code EGH) with sequential multiple point fuel injection. The motor
is backed by a six-speed manual transmission (code NSG370) with a
conventional differential front axle and an anti-spin rear axle
with a 3.73:1 rear end. The Jeep has Command-Trac shift-on-the-fly
four-wheel drive, a next-generation Dana 30 solid front axle and a
next-generation Dana 44 heavy-duty rear axle. Driver convenience
features are plentiful (though some are unavailable due to
modifications) ? air-conditioning, cruise control, power steering,
four-wheel disc brakes with power assist, tilt steering column and
leather-wrapped steering wheel. For 2011, the Wrangler Unlimited
received a mid-cycle restyling. The interior was fully redesigned
to include a new steering wheel with integrated Bluetooth voice
command, cruise control, and audio system controls, an available
enhanced Electronic Vehicle Information Center (EVIC), the Uconnect
hands-free Bluetooth phone system with voice control for the
vehicle's audio system, as well as Bluetooth stereo audio streaming
via A2DP, updated radios with available Garmin-based GPS navigation
and SiriusXM Satellite Radio and Travel Link, a new passenger side
grab bar with embossed ?Jeep? and ?Since 1941? insignias, new
climate controls and vents, and new seat fabrics (heated front
seats and leather-trimmed seating surfaces were also available for
the first time in a Wrangler Unlimited). The Jeep Wrangler (JK) is
the third generation of the Jeep Wrangler off-road vehicle. The
Wrangler was unveiled at the 2006 North American International Auto
Show in Detroit, the JK series 2007 Wrangler Unlimited at the 2006
New York Auto Show. The body and chassis were completely redesigned
during the era when Jeep was part of DaimlerChrysler. Just like the
Willys MB, the CJ Jeeps and the Wranglers before it, the JK
continues to have a separate body and frame, rigid live axles both
front and rear, a fold-flat windshield, and can be driven without
doors. Also, with the exception of optional 4x2 models, the
Wrangler JK continues to have part-time four-wheel drive systems,
with the choice of high and low gearing. In addition to the
traditional two-door Jeep, the JK introduced for the first time a
factory standard four-door model, called the Wrangler Unlimited.
Contrary to the first, TJ-based Unlimited, and the CJ-8
?Scrambler,? the JK?s wheelbase is stretched by 20 inches instead
of 10. Competition to this Jeep in 2011 included Honda?s Ridgeline,
Nissan?s Pathfinder and Toyota?s FJ Cruiser. If you?re willing to
make your own Thunder Road, stop by MotoeXotica Classic cars and
investigate this modified Jeep Wrangler Unlimited for yourself.
