Vehicle Description
We are very pleased to present this 1949 Chevrolet Panel Van. Known
to manufacturers as a "Sedan Delivery", these vehicles were in most
American company line-ups from the beginning. The basic design was
that of a two door wagon with the windows covered with sheet metal
and the interior generally sparse and used as delivery vehicles as
cargo vans are used today. This panel van was used as our company
vehicle here in Savannah, GA and now we are offering it for sale.
This is a true driver and has been a dependable vehicle for us to
take to car shows and drive around town.
This all metal vehicle was restored in 1986 and featured in the
September 1988 Truckin Magazine. The magazine pictures are listed
in this ad. The paint is a 1982 Chevy Truck Red enamel and it is
showing its 34 year age with chips and some paint peeling on the
side of the panels. It has some very cool custom features such as
the louvered hood, custom front window glass, visor, blue dot
headlights and custom running boards. The interior is a classic
burgundy velour, which was typical of the 1980's interior styling.
It has a rebuilt 1973 Chevy 350 engine with TRW components such as
lifters, rods, rings bearing oil pump and camshaft. Power is driven
by a Holley carburetor with a dual exhaust system with chrome tips
located below the rear bumper. It has 9:1 compression flat top
pistons and push rods. The transmission is a 700R4 automatic 4
speed with a converter and cooler. It has long list of convenience
and modern features including power front disc brakes, power
steering, tilt wheel, power antennae, intermittent wipers, power
seats, Dolphin gauges, Vintage air conditioning that blows cold air
and an upgraded CD sound system. It even has a trailer hitch. The
front clip was taken from a 1967 Chevelle and the rear end is a 10
bolt 3.73:1 posi traction from a 1969 Chevy Camaro. The interior
has a 73 Buick 6-way electric seats, but the electric does not
function. It has 1973 Buick Steering column. The 16 inch American
Racing wheels with the 255/50ZR16 BF Goodrich G-Force tires defines
the look of a hot rod. This is a rare vehicle and will definitely
be a hit at the car shows. We can coordinate shipping anywhere.
