1950 International Harvester Pickup in Deep River, Connecticut

Vehicle Description

1950 International L-112 1 ton pick up, Rat Rod

Originally a California truck, it migrated east several years ago where it was going to be a project truck and get restored. We all know how those plans can go, so eventually the owner brought it to a local CT swap meet where it was traded for another, running, truck. When the current owner brought it home, he promptly pulled the seized engine and replaced the entire running gear with that from a 1973 El Camino. 350 V8 2bbl (145 HP), TH350 auto trans, and 10 bolt Chevy rear differential. The engine/running gear were left in their original state to add to the "rat rod" appearance. However, custom, hand bent headers and dual stainless exhaust were added along with the tranny cooler from the El Camino and a custom transmission mount/crossmember. An electric fan, set up with a thermostat, keeps things cool. The rear wheels and radial tires from the El Camino came along too. Up front is the original live axle and bias ply tires. The body and frame have about 59,000 miles, it is unknown how many are on the drive-train.

The body is rot free and wears a ton of patina. The bench seat was reupholstered in basic black and a brushed aluminum shift knob was added to the stock shifter.

Lights work, gauges work, there are no windshield wipers. Brakes work great for 4 wheel drum, non-power. Also comes equipped with strong-arm non-power steering. It has the 1 ton springs still on the rear axle and could probably haul a good deal of that.

The truck starts up easily and quickly, runs and drives great and has a great rumble through the dual exhaust.

Totally turn key, as a "rat rod" it is a blank canvas and can be built to one's own taste, left as is, taken to cruise nights or lettered up and used as a work truck.

Asking price on this not often seen piece of work truck history is $15,000.

Questions, for many more photos and video, to schedule a time to see it in person or to make an offer, please don't hesitate to contact me.
