This 1976 Ford F-150 has been treated with exceptional care all its
life, and the VIN tells us exactly why. It's production number
00001. Oh yeah, it's the first off the line for 1976! And so this
is classic F-series not only looks fantastic, but it also will
always have a story to tell.
Eugene Barrett knew he had something special when he picked up his
new truck from the local dealer in Springfield, MA. October 7, 1975
was in time for the new model year, and we know that because he
picked up the first 1976 model off the assembly line. Eugene was
proud of it, and so he kept good documentation. He also rarely
drove the truck. The story we're told is that he didn't drive it to
work after 1976, and that it didn't even leave the garage in the
winter. That's how you get such a low mileage machine that retains
its originality, right down to the wheel covers. Eugene passed on
October 6, 2009, one day shy of 34 years with his pickup. The
family kept this F-150 until 2016. While it had always been
well-preserved, the new owner went to have a scratch repainted in
2017, and the result was a meticulous full professional respray
with the panels taken off so that this No 1 truck would never look
like anyone cut corners. So the history of this pickup makes it a
collectable, and its presentation will make you want to drive it to
every car show.
The interior continues the trucks fantastically stock style
presentation. This pickup has been so well respected all its life
that everything looks fresh. In fact, we can hardly tell if
anything has been replaced of if this is just exceptional
preservation. The grain of the dual-spoke steering wheel hasn't
been smoothed out by decades of driving; the gauges are crisp and
clear; and the AM radio is still cranking out tunes. It's a true
time capsule, right down to the pattern of the bench seat.
The big engine bay gives you a clear view of a fantastic-looking
motor. The 300 cubic-inch inline-six looks great under the hood
with its long blue block, stock air cleaner, and all those
factory-style decals. It's the original motor, and the presentation
is complete, right down to the jack mounted on the clean inner
fender. While the mileage is ultra-low, a truck this nice deserves
to be taken out for leisurely drives. And the way it fires up and
runs is a reminder that this has been given all the right care over
the decades. The inline six has basically the same displacement as
some of Ford's famous V8s, and you control it all with the classic
column-shifted three-speed manual transmission. The solid feeling
on the road combines with modern cruising tires and power brakes
w/discs up front to make sure it's easy to enjoy this special
pickup.
The sale comes complete with the original warranty card, owner's
manual, sales brochures, original registration, and sales
documentation. Eugene understood the pride of being number 1, and
we know you're ready to feel the same way, too. Call today!!!
