ONE OF THE BEST!

CONCOURS OFF RESTORATION COMPLETED IN 2019.

LOADED WITH TONS OF RARE FACTORY OPTIONS.

This spectacular 1963 Cadillac Coupe DeVille is truly one of the best 60’s Cadillac Coupe DeVilles on the planet. It has been completely restored and is in show quality condition throughout. It retains the original VIN number, trim tag, sheet metal, color combination, engine, transmission and rear end. This car is loaded with tons of factory options such as ice cold air conditioning, power windows, power vent windows, power seat, vacuum trunk, cruise control, Autronic eye and a controlled differential –posi traction rear end. It runs and drives as great as it looks. I would challenge anyone to find a better Coupe DeVille. Don’t waste your time. This is the one. Right here, right now!

As the VIN number indicates this car was built as a 1963 Cadillac Coupe DeVille. As the trim tag indicates it was built on the fourth week of March (03D). The original exterior color was Benton Blue (22) and the original interior color was Blue (43). This car was ordered with every factory option with exception of bucket seats and an FM radio. Some of the options include air conditioning, power antenna, power door locks, power windows, power vent windows, power seat, power trunk, cruise control and autotronic eye with guidematic headlights. From the research gathered it spent most of its life in New York. There is a sticker on the driver’s side vent window that reads “N.Y.S. Correction Conference Member 1965”. This sticker was left on for nostalgic purposes. The car was found in New York and purchased by Jim Eagan who is the owner of JCE Classics. JCE Classics is located in Bend, Oregon and specializes in classic car restoration. This was a very original car so it was a perfect candidate for a frame off restoration. Since the car had never been taken apart before and was so complete, details like finishes on engine and suspension components along with different types of fasteners were identified and restored to original. As many original parts to the car were rebuilt as possible. The restoration was completed in 2019 and has less than 1000 miles since completion. Photos of the restoration are presented.

The exterior of this car is absolutely beautiful in every sense of the word. This body style has a rich but sporty design. The sheet metal is all original. During the restoration everything was taken down to bare metal and no rust repair was needed. The body is straight unlike most Cadillacs from this generation. The original front fenders did have some rust on the bottom so they were replaced with original fenders from another car. The hood, doors and trunk lid fit beautifully. The car was painted in its original color of Benton Blue. This color dresses the car perfectly. The paint job is in show quality condition and was detailed to a brilliant shine. It has a new windshield with excellent original side and rear glass. All of the stainless trim was straightened and polished. All of the chrome was re-plated and looks great.  The front grill, headlights, taillights and emblems also look great. It’s equipped with functioning cornering lights. The car sits on 15” wheels with Cadillac hub caps and Cooper Trendsetter SE whitewall 235-75-15 tires.

The interior of this car is also absolutely beautiful in every sense of the word. It’s extremely comfortable and loaded with options. It was restored in its original Blue color which looks amazing. All of the interior metal panels were re-finished in base clear in the proper shade of blue. The seats were upholstered in leather with the original pattern. Leather was also used in place of the cloth inserts. The leather is nicer and it was available from the factory in full leather. The seat frames were blasted and painted. The power seat motor, transmission, switch and rails were all rebuilt. The door panels were also re-upholstered. During the restoration everything was replaced or restored. Some of these items include the headliner, sun visors, rear view mirror, switch panel, switches, power window motors and gears, vacuum door locks, etc. It retains the original gorgeous dash pad and steering wheel. The heating and air conditioning system was completely overhauled including new vacuum lines and components. The air conditioning system was converted to R134A and blows ice cold. Everything is in the interior is in great working order such as the lights, gauges, horn, tilt steering wheel, locks, power windows, power vents, power seat, cruise control, Autronic Eye, radio, clock, etc. Even the glove box light works! A new set of black carpeted mats were added to break up the blue coloring. The trunk compartment was re-upholstered in the original type tweed fabric and the original trunk cardboard was refinished in a correct shade of gray. The factory jack instructions were placed on the backside of the trunk lid. The vacuum trunk works great. The pull down was cleaned and adjusted. It has a new bias ply spare tire in the proper size and the jack tools.

The engine compartment is highly detailed throughout with many correct parts. The firewall, inner fenders and radiator support was painted in the correct shade of black. The wiring harness was cleaned, inspected and repairs were made as needed. The car is powered by the matching numbers 390 V8 were completely rebuilt including with new .030 pistons. It had complete head work and all the accessories were rebuilt or replaced new. The engine runs and performs excellent. It has an all new fuel system including steel lines, sending unit and tank. It has a new period correct battery and cables. The radiator, heater core, hot water valve and complete cooling system were rebuilt or replaced new. The engine breathes through factory manifolds and a new mandrel bent dual exhaust system. The engine is coupled to the original hydromatic transmission that shifts beautifully. The hydromatic transmission was disassembled and cleaned. New seals and clutches were installed. The controlled differential (posi-traction) rear end was disassembled, inspected and cleaned. This is a rare option!

The undercarriage is also highly detailed throughout with many correct parts. The undercarriage of this car is definitely mirror quality for displaying at car shows. The floors were finished in the correct red oxide color. The frame and suspension parts were powder coated for durability. All new body mounts and suspension bushings were installed. All the front parts were replaced new. It’s equipped with a power steering with a new quick ratio steering box for better handling. It’s also equipped with power brakes. The power brake booster was rebuilt and the original drums were turned. All the other brake components including the steel lines were replaced new.
