Restored and very nice 1971 Mach 1 Mustang.
Sold new on September 3rd 1971 to a pilot in Olympia, Washington State who bought it as a retirement present to himself. He drove the car 47.000 miles before parking it around 1974. The car sat for 15 years in a barn before it sold and ended up with the current owners who started on a slow restoration. So it is a 2 owner car from new.
Over many years they spent around $80.000 restoring the Mustang. After it was finished they only drove it around 700 miles before old age made it difficult to get in and out of the car so they also stopped driving the beautiful car and she is now for sale. You don't see many Mach 1 Mustangs with handicap plates on it!
The speedometer/odometer was rebuilt together with everything else but it did not work properly to start with so the mileage showing just over 7000 miles has nothing to do with the actual mileage. All in all the car has less than 50.000 miles on it since first sold in 1971.
The Mach 1 has never been a bad car, except for some floor rust the body was pristine. It was of course stripped down to bare metal before a floor pan was professionally welded in and an expensive paint job (almost $20.000) was performed.
The engine is the original numbers matching 351 Cleveland and the C6 transmission is the original one also. The car has an added A/C that blows cold (needed here in Southern Arizona) and a radio from a 1972 Mustang with an 8 track. The original radio is still with the car and is included in the sale.
When restoring the Mustang everything was gone through and rebuilt, engine, transmission, rear end, front end, brakes, exhaust, springs, paint, interior, tires, chrome and on and on.
The car is 100% running and driving the way you see it in my pictures. With only around 700 miles on the car after the restoration was finished it is barely broken in!
The car comes with a Marti rapport.
The Mach 1 is at our restoration shop in Arizona and we will arrange transport to most anywhere in the US or out of the country.
