The first generation Shelby GT350 is one of the most identifiable and desirable Mustangs of all time.  This restored 1965 replica, with its brilliant looks and 5-speed transmission, captures the same spirit of these legendary fastbacks but at a fraction of their price.

This Mustang started life as a Rangoon Red 65A coupe.  Built in Dearborn and sold new in the Washington area, it was equipped with a C-code 289ci engine and 4-speed manual transmission.  In 2006 it was stripped down to bare metal, and over the next year it was completely redone as the Shelby GT350 fastback replica you see here.  This was an extensive rotisserie restoration; be sure to see the pictures.  The car was painted in a classic Shelby theme but using a brighter shade of red for more pop.  It also has a GT350 fiberglass hood and quarter scoops, along with original style Shelby 10-spoke wheels with BF Goodrich tires and a matching spare.

The replacement 289ci engine wears an Edelbrock aluminum intake manifold and 4-barrel carburetor.  There is an electronic distributor and dual exhaust with headers.  The finned valve covers and oval air cleaner have a classic look, while the 3” exhaust with Magnaflow mufflers has a nice mellow sound.  The transmission has been upgraded to a Borg Warner 5-speed, letting this car run at highway speed with no problem.  The brakes have been updated with discs in front and a dual reservoir master cylinder.  Suspension improvements include relocated upper control arms (just like Shelby did with the GT350) and a larger 1” front stabilizer bar.

The black 2+2 interior is standard Mustang with a few added items.  The seats, headliner, carpet, door panels, and dash are all excellent.  So are the instrument cluster and steering wheel.  A set of aftermarket gauges was installed under the dash, while the audio system uses a RetroSound head unit with Bluetooth.  The heater, defroster, wipers, washers, horn, and parking brake all work properly.  Same with the air vents, dash lights, and turn signal return.  And my favorite feature in any 2+2 is the fold-down rear seat which includes a storage carpet.

While a real Shelby GT350 would be great to have (and much more expensive), it is far easier to relax and enjoy a car like this.  It looks fantastic but is also a complete, ready-to-go classic.  All the hard work is done so you get to have all the fun.
