1977 Porsche Turbo For Sale- Gifted By Porsche To Hurley Haywood

Porsche 911 Turbo As one of the world's most accomplished
endurance-racing drivers, Hurley Haywood has amassed an astounding
number of wins in this most intense form of motorsport - five
overall victories at the Rolex 24 Hours at Daytona, three at the 24
Hours of Le Mans, and two at the 12 Hours of Sebring. He also has
the 1988 Trans-Am title to his credit, as well as two IMSA GT
championship, three Norelco Cup championships, a SuperCar title and
18 IndyCar starts. During his career, some of his most important
wins were behind the wheel of Porsche race car making him a legend
amongst enthusiasts. For helping Porsche win the 24 Hours of Le
Mans overall in 1977, Hurley Haywood received this brand-new '77
930 Turbo as a gift from the factory in which he drove a Porsche
936 to victory with Ju�rgen Barth and Jacky Ickx. As requested from
Mr. Haywood, this 930 was equipped from the factory with an
adjustable boost knob and an electrical cutoff switch like those in
Porsche factory racing cars. The front hood was also treated to two
distinctive stripes on the corner of the front hood, in burgundy
and gold, applied by Haywood when new. In 1978, Haywood sold the
930 to his good friend Chapman J. Root II, whose great-grandfather
designed the original Coca-Cola bottle. Mr. Root, who added the
Porsche to his notable collection of sports cars, has cherished
this 930 for the last 40 years. This Porsche is stunningly
presented in its original colors of Black over a Cork Leather
sports-seat-equipped interior. As per the COA, it was also ordered
with electric sunroof, Black roof liner and Pirelli tires. The 930
was recently treated to an engine rebuild by noted Porsche
technician David Glenn, who previously worked at both Ruf and
Porsche Motorsport North America. Documenting this special 930
Turbo are a letter and e-mails from Hurley Haywood, service
receipts, Porsche COA, owner's manual and much more. Hurley
Haywood's racing career is synonymous with the winning reputation
of the Porsche 911. Now is the opportunity to own his personal 930
