This 1975 Oldsmobile Toronado Brougham retains its numbers-matching
455 V8, and it has also been given the right respect and
investments to remain a high-class comfortable cruiser inside and
out. So here's a great way to stand out in all the best ways
without ever breaking the budget.
This Olds is all about a vintage presentation with only the right
well-integrated upgrades. For example, Robbin Egg Blue is an
upgrade from the original white. It's a true '70s-style color that
also combines with the white vinyl roof, unique door stripes, and
whitewall tires to give you a cool two-tone like appearance. Plus,
the more recent investment in paint means a terrific shine that
loves to highlight the curves of the distinct sheetmetal. The big
chrome bumpers do the same. Plus, they're part of an intricate
brightwork package that looks complete on this well-preserved and
well-presented coupe.
Inside, the Toronado was all about offering luxuries for both rows
of seating. The front-wheel drive gave it a flat floor for the
whole carload to stretch out their legs. And the comfy velour and
wood-like trim have a time capsule quality. But up front was still
where all the best features were. The split-bench is power
adjustable and has an armrest to provide the driver with the
feeling of a personal luxury car. In fact, all the features
surround the steering wheel to truly envelop you. It's only a short
reach away from luxuries like the power windows, power locks, tilt
column adjustment, 8 Track and AM/FM stereo controls (even the
power antenna works!) Plus, the factory air conditioning is blowing
cold with modern R134a to keep you feeling comfortable in the
luxury Olds.
Under the hood is the numbers-matching 455 cubic-inch V8. The
Rocket big block is topped with a correct Rochester four-barrel
carburetor, and everything looks complete, right down to the
factory decals. While this has a terrific level of preservation,
that doesn't mean it missed out on maintenance. So the big V8 fires
up eagerly and idles smoothly. This is a big torque motor that
loves to move this luxury coupe with authority. It has all the easy
driving features, too, like power steering, power brakes w/discs up
front, and the three-speed automatic transmission. Even the cruise
control is working nicely!
This is a fantastic presentation of a personal luxury machine, and
it really feels like it's ready to hit the road right now. So if
you love a distinct classic American with all the best features,
