Vehicle Description
1983 Cadillac Coupe Deville
The vision for the Cadillac is based on precision engineering and
the complete luxury experience. This is the reason why Cadillac is
one of the finest cars ever manufactured in the United States. This
tradition will carry on throughout its manufacturing history, and
to this day, Cadillac still remains to be America's finest luxury
vehicles. Ford's vision of precision manufacturing led to the
ultimate reliability of his vehicles. Therefore, Cadillac's
reputation preceded itself as the better-made automobile compared
to its competitors.
Cadillac has always been synonymous with success, and this example
from the early 80's bleeds it in black with burgundy interior. A
2-owner car from the same family, she is a survivor, with original
paint, and interior and 77,506 original miles. All original, all
standing tall and long and awaiting a new caretaker.
Exterior
Original tuxedo black shows it age with patina, dimpling and
fading. It is far from a disaster, however is rust free, but just
not as shiny as it once was. Original bumpers and grille are nicely
preserved rust and dimple free chrome, and plenty of it to
highlight the black painted exterior. A padded shiny well preserved
vinyl faux leather pattern landau top covering the rear of the
roof, and remains intact with no faults. Painted on dual thin red
pinstripes, and some snappy chromed wire wheel covers, and we are
into Caddy heaven right out of 1983. Just imagine pulling up in
this classic the looks you'll get. AN apropos bumper sticker could
read "My other car is not a Classic"!
Interior
Burgundy leather, and plenty of it in large front buckets and a
rear bench. It has a nice patina to it all and is wonderfully worn
over time looking. Plenty of wood applique for the dash, and all
the power fixings are available at your fingertips. Nice thick pile
carpet floods the floors, and a tight red headliner is above.
Drivetrain
A 4100 HT 4.1 Liter V8 is crammed into the engine bay and is
looking just great! Well maintained and detailed over time and it
shows. Digital Electronic Fuel Injection and a 200R4 4-speed
automatic transmission is on back with a 10-bolt rear axle
setup.
Undercarriage
Clean and structurally sound with rusticating, and slight surface
rust in a few areas, however none certainly of concern. Independent
coil springs for the front suspension, and 4 link with coil springs
for the rear are the suspension. Power disc brakes for the front,
and power drums for the rear are noted.
Drive-Ability
This car performed beautifully on our test track passing with
flying colors (well, mainly tuxedo black and burgundy!). All
functions were working well, and there is a lot of car to move
around, although it does it very well and easily with all the power
accessories and conveniences.
2 owners here kids, same family, original paint which could use a
respray or you could leave it with the character it already has and
carries with the design. Low miles relatively well kept, and a
survivor if you will. The early 1980's were tough times for
automakers and this Caddy certainly makes the best of the times
with its large design and beautiful and comfortable styling for the
interior. Why drive something everyone else has? Why not a Caddy
classic!?
