Cincy Classic Cars is proud to offer this rare Factory 4 Speed Formula with its numbers matching Pontiac 301 engine. There are no official numbers on how many 1979 Formula's which were produced with factory 4 speed and 301 Pontiac engine. They made 1530 Trans Am's with this drive line so theory would suggest around 500 or less Formulas made. This car is very special because it still retains its numbers matching original Pontiac 301 engine and 4 speed manual transmission with matching vin stamps. This Formula features a professional recent repaint in Carmine Red, a restored Camel Tan vinyl interior, and the numbers matching 301 Pontiac engine and numbers matching 4 speed manual transmission. This Formula is very solid with great lines and gaps. There is no visible rust on the body or underside of this car. This Formula is finished in the beautiful and desirable color combinations of Carmine Red (code 77) over Camel Tan vinyl interior code(62R). This is the factory color scheme as verified on the trim tag and PHS docs pictured above. The Miles are stated as "Actual" on the title.
Exterior
The Red exterior is in beautiful restored condition. This Formula was treated to a professional repaint in factory Carmine Red and was completed recently. Photos documenting the repaint come with the car and some of those photos are in the gallery. The paint is very fresh and has a great shine and gloss and is very smooth to the touch. Both bumpers are in excellent shape with no flaking paint or faded paint and no spider webbed paint. The nose emblem and front bumper grills are new. The Formula decals are in great shape and look excellent on the car and are were just added. There may be some minor imperfections that are not noticeable in the photos, but noting was intentionally excluded from the photos. Tires are brand new and sized 225/760/15 and have less than 500 miles on them. The 15x7 Rally II wheels are OEM originals and are in great shape and fully restored with new center caps and trim rings. All weather stripping, window sweeps, t tops seals, door seals, and trunk seal are new and in great shape. The trunk is solid and very clean with a full size spare tire with Rally II wheel, and correct trunk mat. The underside of this Formula is outstanding and extremely solid and rust free. It was undercoated at some point and shows no rust or corrosion and no patch panels. Most of the suspension has been rebuilt including new front springs(which still have not fully settled yet), new rear leaf springs, new shocks, new sway bar mounts and end links, and many new body mounts, and transmission mount. A arm bushings have been replaced too.
Interior
The Tan vinyl interior of this Formula is nicely restored condition. The front seat covers were recently replaced and are like new and have no wear, stains, or seam splits. They are soft and hold their form as if they were new and are very comfortable. The rear seats are stock and in good shape. The carpet has been replaced and in near perfect condition with no noticeable wear, no stains, rips, or holes. The original dash is in good condition with no cracks or warping or fading. The dash bezel is in good condition. The original door panels are in good working condition and both door pulls are solid and in tact. The headliner is in great condition with no sagging and the package tray is in like new condition and was replaced. The stereo was changed to a JVC CD player with new speakers and sounds and works great. All interior lights and gauges work as they should but the tach is intermittent and jumps around sometimes. The horn, stereo, wipers, and blower motor on all speeds all work.
Mechanical
This Formula is in good mechanical condition and most importantly the original numbers matching Pontiac 301 engine and transmission are still in the car, see vin stamp photos of both above. This Formula runs and drives well, it rides tight, drives strait down the road, does not run hot, and drives good. The engine bay still shows a lot of originality and is mostly stock in appearance. The factory air induction parts come with the sale. This rare Formula brakes work as they should with no pulling from side to side. The exhaust has been upgraded with Flowmaster mufflers and has a great exhaust note at idle and cruising speeds. Also, the engine is clean and nicely detailed as one can see from the photos. This is a factory NON AC car which really cleans up the engine bay area and adds to performance. This Formula has been loved and meticulously cared for by its previous owners and has been garaged most of its life and shows well. The outstanding condition of this Formula and the way it drives is a true testament to the prior owners care and love for this special car. This Formula is truly the one to have being a low production car with the factory 4 speed manual transmission.
