plenty of fast Plymouths before 1967, but none had the unified
performance image pioneered by the Pontiac GTO. Plymouth finally
addressed this with an executive-class muscle car that leaned a
little on the Poncho for its name: the 1967 Plymouth Belvedere GTX.
In an age of ground shaking muscle cars the GTX was positioned as a
gentleman's muscle car. Standard was Plymouth's 440 cubic-inch V8
engine called the Super Commando 440 rated at 375 horsepower and a
thundering 480 ft./lbs. of torque handled through the reliable
3-speed automatic transmission. Based on the good-looking two-door
Belvedere hardtop, the GTX was dressed up with a special grille and
tail panel, simulated hood scoops, and chrome gas cap. This very
well-maintained original car is in exceptional condition, both
physically and mechanically. Locally owned for the last 53 years
the 81K miles on the odometer are believed to be accurate. Included
with the Plymouth is the original Chrysler Corporation Certicard
located in its proper radiator support protective sleeve. The laser
straight body is presented in the original Monotone Red color and
is nicely accented by the Magnum 500 wheels wrapped in Goodyear
Eagle tires. The unique grill, body trim and chrome brightwork all
look great, a testament to the terrific care the GTX has received
its entire life. Inside the very clean cabin are a pair of white
vinyl bucket seats and center console with tachometer. This sharp
muscle car is in excellent running order and ready to be enjoyed
