The 2001 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 was the first year to bring back
this ultra-hot Corvette designation. But this is more than just
history at a value price. When you check out the ultra-slick and
dark-as-midnight presentation of this low-mileage 385 hp coupe,
you'll know why this is an instant classic.
Z06 is one of those codes only reserved for serious tire-burning
Corvettes. So enthusiasts knew to pay attention in 2001 when it was
resurrected for a special edition C5. Not only did they add extra
power, but also they utilized the strongest and lightest version of
the Corvette available - the Fixed Roof Coupe (FRC). And because
this car had an instant significance, it has been treated with
respect since day one. The odometer is believed to reflect the
actual mileage (mileage is exempt on FL title), and that means this
has averaged less than 600 miles annually. The factory black paint
still has an awesome shine, and that gives this the look of a dark
mirror. The sunlight loves to highlight the deep bows of the long
hood, subtle curves of the fixed roof, and the nearly flat rear
deck. And while everything from the tinted windows to the tinted
brake lights give this a mean midnight attitude, the red brake
calipers give a hint that this Z06 is out for blood.
Inside is exactly what you expect from a special Corvette: a loaded
interior that's comfortable for two. The black leather buckets
match the dark interior, and just like the exterior, the special
Z06 stitching provides a great bold red detail. Low mileage means
little seat time, so everything is in top condition. You'll never
get tired of watching the gauges do their dance every time you
start the engine. And more than just track-focused, this car offers
plenty of luxuries, such as dual zone A/C automatic climate
control, power steering, power windows, keyless entry, power
mirrors, power seats, cruise control, and a premium AM/FM/CD stereo
system with Bose speakers. Because this is a modern classic, it
also means modern safety features such as dual airbags and
anti-lock brakes. Plus, the FRC style body has a trunk that can
truly carry a weekend's worth of luggage (including your racing
suit and helmet.)
Even the engine bay continues the theme of a blackout package with
some bold red detail. This is the correct 5.7-liter LS6 motor, and
Chevy built this fuel-injected powerhouse to be a juggernaut with
385 horsepower. You have complete control over all the power and
fury this V8 brings thanks to the six-speed manual transmission. As
a true competition machine, this also received its own suspension
upgrade package to make the fully independent suspension perform at
its best during high speeds. And keeping everything in control is
also the large four-wheel disc brake package and Goodyear Eagle F1
rubber on those special Z06 alloys.
This is the first year for the fire-breathing C5 Z06, and its
preserved in its full midnight appearance. It even comes with nice
documentation, like the original bill of sale, dealer invoice, and
owner's manual. It's a two-owner instant collectible treated with
true respect. Call today!!!
