Vehicle Description
1965 Pontiac GTO coupe. This iconic muscle car changed the
automotive world when it tore up the pavement on the unofficial
drag strip called Woodward Ave. Soon after, everyone wanted the
chance to drive one of the fastest cars on the road. This is a
wonderful, well cared for example that has benefitted from a
thorough restoration and well thought out upgrades. It is a well
documented 389 Tri-Power, 4 speed car and sports the Hurst Edition
package. Additional equipment includes power steering, quick ratio
steering, power brakes, bucket seats, center console, rally gauge
cluster, tinted glass, retractable seat belts, woodgrain steering
wheel, transistor ignition, rear window de-fogger and more. The car
presents beautifully in its original color of Bluemist Slate with a
Blue interior. The WS code Tri-Power engine was enhanced by famed
Royal Pontiac mechanic and race driver, Milt Shornak. The heads
were prepared by known Pontiac specialists Butler Performance. It
was bored and stroked to 454ci. Additional modifications included
Comp roller cam and lifters, Aluminum radiator, MSD ignition and
ceramic coated headers. The engine retains it stock appearance with
its chrome valve covers and correct triple 2 barrel carburetors.
The result of these improvements produced a dyno run of 456 hp. The
engine runs fantastic and delivers outstanding performance and
incredible sound. The Muncie 4 speed transmission with the Hurst
shifter operates as it should with a positive, smooth feel. The
posi-traction rear end is equipped with 3.55:1 gears. The body is
in excellent condition and painted in its original color of
Bluemist Slate. There are no signs of rust, repair or previous
damage. The paint is beautiful with great shine and depth. The
underside is very clean and painted in the appropriate satin
chassis black. The interior is presented in its original blue
color. Door panels, seats headliner, dash board and carpet all
appear excellent and stock. Only the 2 accessory gauges mounted
under the dash stray from a totally factory presentation. The
original AM radio was replaced with a stock looking push button
unit that conceals a modern blu tooth digital system. New Redline
radial tires are mounted to the extremely rare Hurst wheels. An
additional set of 4 American Racing wheels with new BF Goodrich T/A
radials is also included with this car. This is an excellent GTO
that looks fantastic and has all the right components for
performance and reliable cruising. It is ready to be enjoyed today.
