1990 Cadillac Seville STS
When you first read STS you may be thinking of the Cadillac STS
which was a mid size luxury Cadillac offered in the early 2000s.
This however was actually the succesor to the Cadillac Seville
first released in the late 80s. For those vehicles STS was actually
an available trim package. While it stood for the same thing
(Seville Touring Sedan) it was in those times offered as an upscale
performance upgrade. The car we are offering here is one of those
STS package Cadillacs and belongs to the 3rd generation of
Sevilles. The STS package includes not only performance and
suspension upgrades but also body modifications and restylings to
give the cars a more sporty look than the standard Seville. In 1990
only 2,811 of these vehicles produced and out of those this is
easily one of the nicest still in existance. It is all original and
it is very clear the car has been well maintained. In addition to
being well cared for since new it also has recently been gone
through to make sure everything is in ready to roll condition. The
car comes with its original window sticker showing that with all of
its factory options it was purchased for $37,565 new in 1990. It is
still sporting its original Royal Maroon paint that has just been
fully detailed out including being fully clay barred and waxed
multiple times to really bring out the beautiful finish. Everything
is in really good shape throughout. Another option for the STS was
the 16 inch machine finished alloy wheels with STS center caps.
This one has had white wall luxury Vogue Tyres added with the thin
gold line that really add to that luxury Cadillac exterior.
Performance is delivered via the 4.5 L V8 motor under the hood.
1990 was also a special year because a new fuel injection was
introduced. Looking at how clean the engine compartment is gives
you another indication of how well the car was taken care of
throughout its life. The motor was just gone through and recieved a
new timing cover gasket, new water pump/gasket, new timing cover,
new drive belt and a full coolant flush. While the motors in the
STS and Seville were the same the STS versions were backed by a 4
speed automatic w/OD transmission with a special final drive ratio
of 3.33:1 for improved acceleration. The car shifts smoothly with
no issues. One of the impressive things about the drivetrain on the
car is actually its sound. You don't always expect a Cadillac to
deliver that performance car sound but this one has a bit of
raspiness to it delivered through the STS option dual exhaust with
stainless tips. In addition to the engine work that was done on the
car the suspension and brakes were also gone through as well. We
have receipts for all this work and the bill not including the
engine work above totalled $1,625 to re-do. This included new
struts, lower ball joints, sway bar links, outer tie rods, an
alignment, new front pads/rotors and new front hoses. The result is
the nice smooth ride you would expect from a luxury Caddy.
The interior of the car is in excellent condition and its original
Beechwood leather. As you would expect with a Cadillac everything
was done with luxury in mind. From wood accents to the latest and
greatest electronics available. It even has a full rear seat
console which is a pretty unique feature. Everything on the inside
is all stock with exception of the stereo. Although it was ordered
with the optional Delco-Bose AM/FM/Cassette stereo system it
stopped working so a aftermarket JVC AM/FM/CD/Bluetooth stereo was
installed as well as Rockford speakers. It does come with the
original stereo should you want to get it working and reinstall it
for originality. It has plenty of storage comparments on the
interior but for those bigger items the car has the STS trunk which
was actually larger than the standard Sevilles.
These Cadillacs will always have a following especially when they
have been so well maintained. So whether you are looking for your
next luxury daily driver or have a Cadillac collection this car
would be a great fit. It comes with the original window sticker,
receipts for recent work, its original manual and 2 sets of keys
one of which is the Gold key set.
