Vehicle Description
2004 Boss Hoss Trike
Boss Hoss Cycles, Inc. was established in 1990 when Monte Warne,
the founder of Boss Hoss Cycles, Inc., created his first Chevy V8
powered motorcycle in his 5,000 square foot shop in Dyersburg,
Tennessee. Monte, a commercial aircraft pilot and degreed Aviation
Airframe and Power plant technician, was the first to design a V8
powered motorcycle that has a traditional cruiser motorcycle style,
look and feel. This was accomplished by his unique approach to the
motorcycles single speed (one gear) transmission design. The
right-angle drive transmission allows the length of the bike to be
kept to a minimum and the engine-mounting inline with the frame
made for a well-balanced design that is unequaled by any other V-8
powered motorcycles. Over the past 28 years Boss Hoss Cycles, Inc.
has grown from its humble beginnings in Monte's shop to a 22,000
square foot manufacturing facility. The product line has also grown
from the conventional two-wheeled motorcycle to include three
wheeled vehicles commonly referred to as trikes.
For consignment the definition of excess, a Boss Hoss V8 trike.
With 502 HP between your legs you not only have some excitement
between them, but your legs have to be spread really far apart!
This trike sports custom paint, a stereo system and sticky Viper
rear tires. Of course, many other features, but like the TV teaser
you get showing upcoming highlights to your favorite programs, read
on!
Exterior
Hot, Mean n Nasty says the front cowl, and based on its looks and
specs I'd tend to believe this. Candy Apple Red has gorgeously hot
yellow to orange to deep red airbrushed flames licking in every
direction on the surfaces of this trike. These include the front
cowling, front fender, rear car body like covering complete with
big attached fenders, and a round off rear trunk. On the rear, it
takes on the look of a mini '31 Ford hot rod. Twin chromed exhaust
sneek a peek from under the trunk area and are flanked by massive
335/35R17 tires which wrap polished Billet Specialties wheels. A
two-tier seat offers the rear passenger full view of the ride
experience, and these beautifully crafted black stitched leather
seats are fronted by a double wide fuel tank. This tank has a gauge
cluster fanning out on its top, and above float the chromed
handlebars. A Pioneer stereo which has AM/FM/MP3/CD capabilities is
inset above the handlebars. Chromed diamond plate protectors are
seen to guard against bruins at various locations around the V8,
and to direct airflow into the V8 from the front mounted
radiator.
Drivetrain
A custom 502ci V8 sits in all its chromed glory amongst the diamond
plates and frame of this trike. This engine puts out 502 HP and has
a single 4 barrel carburetor to feed its appetite for power. A 4
speed automatic OD transmission throws power rearward to a 10 bolt
rear. Pipes mufflers provide an escape for the burnt fossils and
air and headers are noted attached to both sides of the V8.
Undercarriage
Telescoping fork suspension for the front and coil overs on the
rear of this trike keep it glued to the road. A disc brake for the
front, and drums are on the rear from low on the bike, we note
bullet style turn signals hanging from the bottom of the lower
radiator shield.
Drive-Ability
This was a thrill ride with its massive sound and power. Instant
acceleration and smoother than imagined. Cruises nicely at lower
speeds as well. Very balanced and the sound of the motor is just
what you would expect.
Overall a custom wild creation in the minds of those from
Tennessee. An interesting custom build, with plenty of HP, gobs of
V8 engine, and a beautifully sculpted body on back. Very
reminiscent of a small hot rod, only much more power to weight
ratio advantage for this Boss Hoss.
