Vehicle Description
West Coast Classics are proud to present a beautifully restored and
great daily driving and completely rust free example of this "AACA"
award winning rare and desirable 1960 Ford Galaxie 2 Door Hardtop
'Starliner' with the 292/185HP V8 engine and with dual exhausts and
with factory specifications including the high level 'Starliner'
interior trim with special identification script, the
'Ford-O-Matic' automatic transmission, SelectAire Air Conditioning
($404), Power Steering ($77), Power Brakes ($43), Pushbutton AM
radio (59), Recirculation Heater amp; Defroster ($75), Electric
Clock ($15), I-Rest Glass ($43), Fender Skirts amp; Deluxe hubcaps
($17). This particular example has been restored as required over
the years with a body off frame restoration completed in the late
1990's with absolutely no expense spared in this beautiful 'Orchid
Gray Poly' (Lilac) color with a striking and also correct
specification and complimenting 'Orchid Soft Textured Vinyl Bloster
amp; Striped Fabric with Silver Strand' interior and this is a
California car which was has obviously always been garaged and well
maintained. All the chrome and stainless steel was obviously also
removed and re-chromed or refinished. The floor boards, trunk and
all the typical rust-prone areas are completely solid and rust-free
and the car has no signs of any accidents - obviously a garaged and
cherished car since new and the car won the prestigious 'First in
Class' in a recent national "AACA" 2017 show. The 1960 Ford
Starliner was the top-of-the-line and raciest of Ford's bigger than
ever early 1960's big cars. The all new 1960 model was some 6"
longer and almost 5" wider and nearly 200 llbs heavier than it's
predecessors and was widely considered to be Ford's cleanest
styling in years. The glass area was greatly increased and the car
boasted much wider interior dimensions and yet it's graceful
styling helped hide the additional heft with a sloped hood, simple
grille, straight A pillars, clean chrome edged fenderlines and
modest horizontal tailfins. The Sunliner again led the
top-of-the-line Galaxie group but the Starliner was the real
surprise; a pillar-less semi fastback 2 Door Hardtop replacing the
1959's square roof version. It looked race ready and it was. By
1961 a conventional hardtop coupe was reinstated and the Starliner
sales dived and would not return. Thus, these rare 1960 swoopy and
stylistic big and spacious V8 powerhouses are finally gaining the
attention they deserve both from regular classic American Car
enthusiasts as well as obviously all serious Ford enthusiasts..This
car drives absolutely magnificently - must be driven to be fully
appreciated - does not miss a beat and purrs like a kitten - drives
straight as an arrow with no strange road wobbles, shakes or
rattles - a truly remarkable daily driver that will give any modern
day car a run for it's money! This is therefore a rare opportunity
to own a beautifully body off restored both cosmetically and
mechanically and a recent "AACA" award winning example of an
otherwise very stock and original fully loaded including factory
air conditioning, power brakes and power steering 1960 Ford
Starliner 2 Dr Hardtop; ready for any Ford enthusiasts collection
or indeed for that matter any American Classic Car Collector.
