The Pontiac Tran Am starring alongside Burt Reynolds in the
smash-hit Smokey and the Bandit on the silver screen really helped
the popularity of Pontiac's last performance car. It defied the
odds and was the last muscle car standing, battling on with its
strangulated engines but, the styling, graphics and overall polish
made the car truly memorable.1980 saw the biggest engine changes
for the Trans Am. The 301ci offered in 1979 as a credit option, was
now the standard engine. Trans Am equipment included bucket seats,
rally gauges with clock and tach, engine-turned dashboard,
snowflake or Turbo mag wheels, front and rear spoilers, front and
rear wheel opening flares, functional extractor on the front
fenders, dual exhaust with split tips, and power bulge hood. This
1980 Pontiac Trans Am was sold new on December 29 th , 1979 at
Marvin Starr Pontiac Buick Inc. to its original owner Mr. G. Boese.
It was ordered in the desirable Y84 Special Trans Am "Bandit" paint
scheme of Black with gold pinstripes and famous Firebird hood
decal. Under the hood it is powered by the numbers matching L37
301ci V8 engine backed by a 3-speed automatic transmission. It was
ordered from the factory with a plethora of options including:
Tinted Glass, Rear Spoiler, Air Conditioning, Rear Window
Defroster, D53 Hood Applique, G80 Posi-Traction, Tilt Steering
Wheel, Shaker Hood, WS6 Performance Package and more. Finishing the
appearance package of the iconic T/A, are a set of Snowflake wheels
fitted with BF-Goodrich radial tires. Accompanying the sale of this
beautiful Trans Am is the original build sheet, bill of sale and
