For Sale: 1965 Dodge Coronet in Charlotte, North Carolina

Vehicle Description

For most enthusiasts, the privilege of owning a classic car isn't about numbers or return on investment. It's about heading out on the weekend and having a little bit of fun. It's about making a statement and turning heads. It's about the excitement of putting the wind in their face and the roar of an American V8 at their back. That's why rides like this awesome, dual-quad Coronet have such a loyal following. Sure, it's not historically accurate. And it might not turn into a six-figure asset over the next decade. But, it's cool, it's stylish, it's unique and, most importantly, it provides a whole lot of enjoyment! Want to make this national award winner yours? Your friends at RK Motors Charlotte are happy to help!

VIPER RED, NATURALLY

Featured in multiple publications, this cool A990 tribute got its big shot at the big time thanks to a detailed, ground-up restoration that was meticulously executed by the good folks at Bob Lowry & Son Auto Body of West Covina, California. Once that canvas was fully prepped, brilliant Viper Red base was cased in glossy clear. And today, this Dodge rolls as an exciting, exceptionally well done classic that's built to turn heads and snap necks!

Unlike many themed classics, which tend to throw good taste out the window, this awesome MoPar seamlessly balances a cool personality with flashy good looks. At the front of the car, a textured, '65-exclusive grille hangs traditional headlights between a polished bumper, simple parking lamps, a broad "DODGE" script and tasteful fratzog fender toppers. Above that script, a dramatic, stainless-trimmed scoop seats bold "HEMI" lettering in front of a tall, stainless-trimmed greenhouse. At the sides of those banners, polished door handles complement slick "Coronet" banners and a factory mirror. And at the back of the car, a sophisticated deck emblem splits stylish taillights, which fall toward a second "DODGE" script and a second polished bumper.

TWO WORDS: DALE & REED

Check the car's body-matched engine bay and you'll find 526 cubic inches of choice Dale Reed Hemi that twists hearty 10.5 to 1 compression into 705 horsepower and 380 lb./ft. of tire-scorching torque! At the top of that professionally built mill, polished K&N air cleaners thread wind into steady streams of fossils that are provided by 770cfm Holley 4-barrels. That perfect mixture of air and fuel floods a hearty cross-ram intake, which funnels speed into aluminum Stage V heads that are finished with big Manley valves and stainless Stage V rockers. Those heads tilt polished breathers and polished valve covers over a painted Mopar Performance Siamese-bore block. A billet Keith Black crank, sourced from a Top Fuel Funny Car, spins billet Crower 4340 H-beams beneath forged Arias pistons. Hot MSD 6AL ignition makes excellent use of an MSD Blaster coil, an MSD Pro-Billet distributor, a billet Crower roller cam and loomed Taylor plug wires. Exhaust roars through custom Dawson Racing headers. And details like billet fuel filters, stainless fluid lines, a Mallory pressure regulator and a 7-quart Milodon oil pan cement this Dodge's status as a well-rounded piece of prime mechanical art.

BUILT BUFF

Take one look under this buff B-Body and you'll see that the car definitely has the chops to back up its sinister good looks. The tire-torching engine is hooked to a cable-operated A727 TorqueFlite, which features a full-manual reverse valve body, a 3,200 RPM stall and a quality Hayden cooler. That tough transmission, supplied by Turbo Action High Performance, jerks a date-correct 8.75-inch axle, which is finished with a Sure Grip differential and big, 3.55 gears. The car's fully rebuilt suspension has been augmented with sturdy subframe connectors and serious Super Stock leaf springs that have been relocated three inches to accommodate larger wheel tubs. Manual turns are achieved through a Firm Feel Inc. steering box. 1974 Chrysler A-Body discs join 10-inch drums to provide tight and tidy stops. An intimidating engine note comes courtesy of coated, large-diameter pipes that align electric cutouts with coated Hooker Aero Chamber mufflers. Power meets the pavement through timeless Torq Thrust Ds, which spin 7.10-15 BF Goodrich Silvertowns in front of 29x13.50-15 Hoosier Quick Time Pros. And the car's Satin Black floors frame an array of niceties like a finned B&M transmission pan and an electric Mallory fuel pump.

PERFORMANCE AND COMFORT

Between the doors, an airy Fawn cockpit champions the timeless good looks of classic American muscle. Custom mounted Dodge A100 seats cut weight. Shifts come courtesy of a serious Winters Sidewinder. A simple dash, devoid of heat and audio, hangs rebuilt factory telemetry between a familiar Auto Gage 3-pack and a big Auto Meter tachometer. Rich carpet crawls past plush side panels to a clean trunk that's ballasted with the car's battery. And the driver spins an old school factory steering wheel.

Well-built, fully detailed and attention grabbing in every way, this national award-winning Dodge backs a lot of show with a whole lot of go. In summary, it's what every car guy wants: speed, style and endless good times! If you're ready to bring home one of the coolest MoPars on the market, free up some garage space and give us a call!
