For Sale: 1969 Chevrolet Corvette in MADISON, Mississippi

Vehicle Description

For sale is this fine 1969 Chevrolet Corvette. S#194379S732520. This vehicle was bought by my brother in law Mr Steve Owen in July 2015. We traveled to the just beyond Atlanta to buy the vehicle. This is a matching numbers car bought new in Pensacola, Fl on Dec 14, 1969. The build date was Oct 15 1969. The original owner was Robert W Jacobs (we have the original Protect O Plate as well as the Build Sheet ). Mr Jacobs was a Naval aviator. He sold the car around 1975 with 43000 miles on it to R T Haynes, A Marine officer in Beaufort, SC. The third owner was Commander David Somers Jr. Cmdr Somers sold the car in 1988 to his son, Cmdr David Somers III. This gentleman kept the car until 2012 when he sold it to Ron Wells of Charleston, SC. Mr Wells sold the car in 2014 to a retail classic car establishment in Appling, Ga. My brother in law bought the car in July 2015.

The car itself is a 350 cubic inch/350HP original engine car. It has the original 4 speed transmission and a 3.36 posi traction rear end. This rear end was replaced in Jan 2000. The car is an original power brake and power steering car with factory air conditioning (replaced by Mr Owen with a good working Vintage Air system.) We have many documents for the car showing all work done on the car since 1969.

In Oct 1988 the engine was completely rebuilt by Cmdr Somers Jr. The block according to the documentation did not need boring. TRW pistons, bearings, timing gear, etc were used in this rebuild. The mileage then was approximately 65000. A new cam and lifters were installed at that time and the heads reworked. In 2012 Cmdr Somers III did considerable work on the car including a new gas tank, master cylinder, Pittman arm, water pump and more ($2179.16) The radiator was replaced in 5/2000.

The fourth owner Ron Wells had the car repainted in the correct Code 983 Fathom Green in approximately 2013. The paint is nice, nice. Mr Wells also replaced the seat covers and carpets at that time. The T tops are in good shape and recently reinsulated. The weather stripping on the car is all good.

Mr Owen has done considerable work on the car over the past 5 years of ownership. This work includes the following (we have all the receipts for this labor and parts which have a combined cost of $20499.59, paid by Mr Owen in the almost 40 invoices that we have copies of):

1. Complete rebuild of the vacuum headlight door and windshield door opening system.

2. Complete insulation of the car with Dyanmat (sound and vibration) and Dynaliner (heat).

3. Complete rebuild of the front steering and suspension with new (MOOG) ball joints, control arm bushings, tie rod ends, etc.

4. Remove old ineffective A/C system and replace with Vintage Air system

5. Stainless steel exhaust system installed

6.Tires new in 7/2019

7.New radio and speakers

8. Alternator rebuilt;

9. New starter

10. New carburetor

11. New shock absorbers

12. Rear suspension and drive train rebuilt with new U Joints and new bearings in the trailing arms

13. Rally Wheels new in 2014.

14.The original P02 Deluxe wheel covers go with the car

15. Petronix ignition added

16. All belts, hoses, etc in good shape

This 1969 Corvette is a really nice vehicle. It is beautiful, powerful, comfortable and dependable. At 65 or so Mr Owen is having some difficulty in getting into and out of the vehicle and that is one reason he wants to sell. The car is a wonderful long distance driver. It never gets hot even in slow hot traffic situations. It shifts smooth and there is no clutch chatter. My brother in law never scrimps on anything and he certainly has not on this fine vehicle. The car is in Madison, Ms (central Ms near intersection of I55 and I20.) The car may be viewed and driven there. Direct any questions to Mike Martin at 601-906-1196
