Vehicle Description
Produced between 1963 and 1976, Alfa's lovely Giulia GTV Coupe was
one of the most widely adored versions of the popular and versatile
Giulia line. Based on a shortened Berlina platform, the coupe
featured unique styling designed by the brilliant Giorgetto
Giugiaro for Carrozzeria Bertone. The coupe shared its mechanical
makeup with the Berlina and Spider, including coil-sprung
suspension, four-wheel disc brakes, and five-speed gearbox. Alfa's
iconic twin-cam inline-four was offered in various displacements
ranging from 1300 cc to 2000 cc with twin carbs or Spica mechanical
fuel injection. Equally at home cruising the interstate as it is
tearing up back roads, the GTV's combination of practicality and
performance makes it the ideal all-round classic for driving
enthusiasts. This crisp and attractive 1974 Alfa Romeo GTV
represents the final evolution of the long-running Giulia coupe
line. This GTV 2000 features the two-liter version of Alfa's
brilliant twin-cam engine, equipped from new with Spica mechanical
fuel injection and a 5-speed gearbox. A very well-maintained and
nicely sorted example, this GTV is tastefully updated with
aftermarket GTA-style alloy wheels. The beautiful Bertone designed
body is in excellent order, with sharp lines and very good quality
silver paintwork. Lights, lenses, and bright exterior trim are also
in good condition with straight bumpers, alloy window trims, and
the correct late-style four-headlight grille. The four-place cabin
is comfortable, airy, and a marvelous place to spend a day of
spirited motoring. The black vinyl trim is in excellent condition
on the quarters and door panels, and the tidy black carpets fit
well. Highly desirable sports seats, backdated from a 1969 GTV, are
in excellent order with proper black vinyl upholstery. The dash
features original Veglia Borletti gauges, a period-correct radio,
wood-rimmed wheel, and lovely wood dash inserts. The console houses
the classic angled-shifter for the 5-speed 'box, which is topped
with a factory-correct shift lever. Mechanically, the car is very
well-sorted, benefitting from recent service work by a marque
specialist. The gutsy and eager twin cam is orderly and nicely
detailed with authentic fittings and accessories. The Spica
mechanical injection remains in place, with the correct gray airbox
and ID tag. Recent service included fitting a new, original style
rear muffler, allowing the little 2-liter to sing freely. The
undercarriage is very tidy and clean with Koni shocks and sport
springs at each corner, and floors that are straight and in good
condition. The finned alloy sump is also excellent, showing no
signs of curbing. One drive in a classic Alfa Romeo GTV is enough
to reveal why these marvelous little coupes are so beloved by
enthusiasts the world over. They offer quick, punchy performance
with balanced handling, excellent brakes, and sophisticated styling
by the masters at Carrozzeria Bertone. Like so many Italian cars of
the era, the Giulia GTV is about the pure joy of driving, and this
marvelous, well-sorted example is perfect for carving up your
favorite ribbons of tarmac. Offers welcome and trades considered
