Vehicle Description
A custom automobile is a wonderful thing, because it is built
precisely to fulfill the wish list of someone with a big
imagination. The quality of that build, of course, depends on the
materials used and more importantly, who's putting them together.
It's all about names. That's where this 1933 Dodge sedan, the
"SRT33," shines. The list of top-flight brands is impressive. And
then there's what we'll call the by lines. Just like the author of
a book, there are artists and skilled craftsmen who participated in
this project. And they are putting their name on their work with
pride. Customs by Kilkeary performed their metal magic on the car,
performing extensive, yet subtle modifications. The roof has a
stealthy 2-inch wedge chop and the grille was proportionally
chopped an inch and a half. The body lines on the fenders are
extended, and there are hidden mono hinges on all four suicide
doors. The roof opening was filled and smoothed. Then a rich,
luxurious paint treatment was needed. For this, Kilkeary used BASF
Glasurit 90 paint custom blended to produce a succulent golden
brown metallic. More by lines include chassis by The Roadster Shop,
custom trim and lighting by Greening Auto of Nashville, leather
interior by Smith's Custom Seats with gorgeous woodgrain interior
trim by Joe's Body Shop, a custom radiator by PRC, and engine
computer and wiring harness by Hotwire. Clayton Machineworks did
the vents and trim, and the show-quality chrome is by Paul's Chrome
Plating. You'll also find beautiful solid bronze custom emblems by
JAB Jewelry. The original gauge cluster was refurbished to look and
perform better than new by Classic Instruments. All these
specialists were allowed to shine on this project and they gave it
their best. In fact, many of the pieces on the car are handmade.
The roll pan and floor are such one-off creations, as are the
stainless steel fuel tank and the custom exhaust tips. An SRT 6.1
liter Hemi ably fills the engine bay. Together with its teammate
WA580 five-speed automatic transmission, it's a smooth and powerful
combination. The ride and handling are superb, thanks to the proven
Heidts Mustang II front suspension along with a triangulated 4-link
rear set up. QA1 adjustable coilovers front and rear provide
complete control. Adjustments can be made with the Ride Controller
powered by an iPad Mini. Wilwood disc brakes reside front and rear
for state-of-the-art stopping power. The interior is reminiscent of
a Bentley, with its fine leather upholstery, rich wood throughout,
and custom trim pieces. The '33 Dodge heritage remains intact by
virtue of the original gauge cluster, artfully refurbished to
function like modern instruments. Vintage Air A/C and heat assures
that passengers are comfortable in any weather, and a JL Audio
system keeps them entertained. An IDIDIT steering column works with
a Wizard Steer Clear for a clean under hood appearance and
excellent vehicle control. Staggered Billet Specialties polished
forged aluminum wheels are light and beautiful and provide the
crowning touch to a magnificent street rod. The "SRT33" is a rare
1933 Dodge sedan representing a collaboration of fine work by
skilled craftsmen using the finest components and materials. This
is a maximum effort vehicle that as you know would take years to
duplicate. But It's ready and available now at Maxmotive.
