HIGHLIGHTS: Nice original interior, slick red paint job, rally
wheels, Numbers Matching 307 V8, many original documents, beautiful
Malibu!
BODY OVERVIEW: The exterior body panels on this Chevelle are very
straight, and it looks to have been well-kept over the years.
According to the original paperwork that's included in the sale,
this chevelle was sold new in New York and as such, the underside
is in remarkable condition for a northern car of this age that
hasn't seen a full restoration. The floors are all original and
haven't been undercoated or painted, so in other words no one has
tried to hide anything on the bottom-side. The body on this car is
surprisingly solid, we've found only a little bit of body filler in
the typical spots on the passenger side quarter panel.
PAINT CONDITION OVERVIEW: The paint job on this car is an older
repaint, but it has really held its shine! Originally leaving the
factory in tan, the new red repaint really spices up the look of
this car. The paint job is what we would call a nice,
driver-quality paint job that looks nice but doesn't prevent you
from enjoying your car for fear of damaging a high-dollar paint
job.
INTERIOR CONDITION OVERVIEW: The interior is in shocking condition,
especially when you look closely and realize it is nearly all
original! Amazingly, the interior has survived all of these years
and still looks great. A few of the stitches on the driver's bench
seat have started to pull loose, but beyond that, there are no
rips, tears or signs of abuse. While a beige/parchment two-tone may
not be the most desirable interior color combination in the world,
it still looks nice against the exterior color and is simply too
nice to warrant a color change.
MECHANICAL OVERVIEW: Far from tired, the numbers-matching 307V8
hauls this little cruiser just fine. This is the perfect weekend
cruising car! It may drip a drop of oil here and there, but it runs
like a top. Coupled with recently added power front disc brakes,
this car stops on a dime! The steering is tight due to some
recently added front end components, and overall this is a very
enjoyable car to drive. Recently added shocks and springs make for
a comfortable ride!
WHAT YOU'LL LOVE ABOUT THIS CAR: The interior originality, upgrade
brakes, and of course all of the original documents that come with
it (including the original key punch-outs and the original window
sticker AND warranty booklet with the original owner's name on it).
All of that on top of how comfortable this car is to drive! It
really handles beautifully.
WHAT YOU MIGHT HATE ABOUT THIS CAR: Red with parchment interior
works well for this car, but it isn't for everyone.
DOES IT NEED ANYTHING? The shift indicator only reads from Drive
onward, but other than that this car is ready to hit the road!
WHAT BUYER IS LOOKING FOR THIS CAR? This car has mass appeal, and
should be the right buy for anyone in search of an affordable
American muscle icon!
