Vehicle Description
This 2001 Chrysler/Plymouth Prowler Mulholland Edition is a truly
unique machine. After all, it takes a special edition version of
one of the most distinct factory cars ever made, and it turns up
the hot rod attitude up even further. The result is a limited
edition that knows how to stand out in every crowd.
Keen eyes and Prowler fans know that Midnight Blue is a special
color. This is part of the Mulholland Edition. This is the
first-year blue was available, and it coincides with the first year
the badge name was officially switched over to Chrysler (although
we all know these are from the dearly departed Plymouth nameplate.)
More importantly, this package comes with a cool blue convertible
top and a hand painted blue pinstripe. But you can also instantly
tell that this limited edition Prowler is extra special. The front
end was upgraded for added chrome and style. And side louvers were
added with a proper flame trail. So it gives this retro-cool
machine more old-school hot rod appeal, and yet, it still all
coordinates with the factory package.
The Prowlers were instant classics not only for the cool design on
the outside, but also for a well-done interior that balances luxury
features and a true sports car feeling. It starts with two plush
leather bucket seats that are done to be all-day comfortable. There
are more desirable factory pieces, like ice-cold air conditioning,
power windows, power locks, power steering, keyless entry/alarm,
dual airbags, anti-lock brakes, backup sensors, and a premium
AM/FM/cassette stereo w/CD changer. There are also some nice
individual details, like the brightwork accenting and the Prowler
logo finished in blue on the seatbacks. The steering wheel is
modern unit with cruise control buttons at your fingertips. But the
factory AutoMeter tach on the column is a nice nod to this car's
custom roadster heritage. The same feeling goes for all the
white-faced gauges that dominate the top of the dash. So the
Prowler gives you all the modern features you want, but it also
always gives that ideal vintage vibe.
There's some more custom work in the engine bay where the engine
cover and radiator shroud are done in a bold blue. And it's
especially cool to see these combine the Mulholland Edition style
pinstripes combined with the ghost flames that are on the side.
Beyond these custom pieces is a very stock setup, and that's a good
thing. One of the reasons the Prowler makes such a great all-around
driver is that the retro looks are backed by a modern fuel-injected
heart. The 3.5-liter 24-valve V6 has nice low-end power, and the
253 leaves plenty in reserve for highway passing. Plus, no
old-school hot rod has these kinds of desirable features, like the
Prowler's near 50/50 weight distribution, fully independent
suspension, four-wheel power disc brakes, and grippy Goodyear Eagle
GS-D tires on brightly polished wheels.
The sale comes complete with owner's manual. A Prowler is already
pretty darn distinctive, and this one is a limited edition with
plenty of custom details. So if you love being truly unique, you
know you need this drop-top. Call today!!!
