For Sale: 1972 Chevrolet Chevelle in Seekonk, Massachusetts

Vehicle Description

This beautiful 1972 Chevrolet Chevelle SS is the real deal with long term ownership history. This vehicle currently has 79,357 original miles. It has been completely restored to show quality standards throughout. It retains the original VIN tag, trim tag, sheet metal, color combination, engine, transmission and rear end. It has copies of original documentation and restoration information that is included. It also has over 30 awards that are also included.

As the original VIN tag number indicates this car left the Arlington, TX factory as a 1972 Chevrolet Chevelle 2-door Sport Coupe with a 402 V8 4-bbl engine. The original trim tag indicates it was built at the Arlington, TX factory on the fifth week of September with a Cream Yellow with Black vinyl top exterior and Black interior.

As the copy of the original car invoice documents this car was sold to Don Chastain from Ellijay, GA on November 10th, 1971 by Lawson Chevrolet located in Jasper, GA. Don paid a total of $4,495.75 including the sales tax, license and title fees. The optional equipment as listed in order on the invoice included door edge guards, remote control mirror, soft ray glass, SS 402, F60 x 15B tires, front and rear mats, M-40 Turbo Hydromatic, center console, AM radio and stereo tape, strato bucket seats, LS3 402 Turbo Jet, bumper guards and vinyl roof. A copy of this invoice is included. A copy of a title in Don’s name from November 10th, 1971 is also included. The car was sold to Richard Cybul on August 25th, 1989 who lived in Tamarac, FL. This is documented with an original Florida title that is included. The title indicates the previous state was Georgia and the odometer reading was 51,126. As documented on the back of this title it was sold to Green Mountain Classics located in Springfield, VT on April 20th, 1996. On October 29th, 2002 it was purchased by Gary and Jennifer Mastronunzio who lived in Unionville, CT. Shortly after they purchased the car they had it completely restored. Photos and some miscellaneous receipts from the restoration are included. Owner’s manuals are also included. They showed the car and achieved over 30 awards. All the awards are listed below and included. They owned the car for almost 18 years until it was purchased by MS CLASSIC CARS on April 27th, 2020.

The exterior of this car is absolutely beautiful. The body and paint is truly exceptional. It retains all of its original sheet metal. The body is super straight with excellent gap lines throughout. The hood, doors and trunk lid close tightly. The body was finished in its original color of Cream Yellow with black racing stripes. This color is even nicer in person then it looks in the photos. The paint is high show quality and is virtually flawless. The paint is complemented with a black vinyl top which it originally came with from the factory. The front windshield is new and all the remaining glass is in very nice original condition. All of the glass trim is original and also in very nice condition. Everything on the exterior has been restored or replaced such as the wipers, hood pins, grille, front bumper, fender trim, rear bumper, emblems, etc. The car sits on 15” O.E. 5 spoke SS wheels with Goodyear Polyglas GT- F60-15 tires.

The interior of this car is also beautiful and complements the exterior perfectly. This interior is very comfortable and authentic in appearance. It was restored in its original color of black with bucket seats. A certificate of authenticity for “authentic original reproduction interior” from Legendary Auto Interiors is included. Many of the interior trim pieces are original or NOS. Everything in the interior is in working order including the clock. MS CLASSIC CARS replaced the carpeting and added new custom Chevelle floor mats. This car is equipped with power steering which works great and makes turning a breeze. The trunk compartment is has been correctly restored. It has the factory style trunk mat, spare tire and jack accessories.

The engine compartment is highly detailed throughout with many correct parts. The firewall, inner fenders and radiator support were finished in black. The car is powered by the original matching numbers “LS3” 402 V8 Turbo jet with 4-bbl engine. This engine was professionally rebuilt and dyno tested at 403 HP @ 5200RPM. Multiple dyno sheets are included. This engine runs and sounds excellent out the 2.5” Flow Master H-pipe with Dyno-Max Ultra-flo. The engine is coupled to the original matching numbers TH400 Automatic transmission. This transmission was professionally rebuilt including a B&M Street shift kit. It also has an Art Carr 10” 2500 RPM stall converter. The power is transferred to the original 12-bolt POSI rear end with Eaton carrier and Precision 3:55 gears.
The undercarriage is nicely detailed throughout with many correct parts. This is definitely mirror quality for car shows. The original floors were finished in black. Everything underneath has been restored or replaced including such items as the steering components, suspension system and braking system.
