For Sale: 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle in Seekonk, Massachusetts

Vehicle Description

This car has only 12 horsepower less than a factory 1970 Chevelle SS 454 LS6 which was rated at 450HP.

 

This real 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS is truly stunning and is powered by a GM Performance 454HO/438HP V8 with 4-speed manual transmission. It has been completely restored to show quality condition throughout. It retains the original build sheet, VIN plate and trim tag. This American Muscle Car runs and drives as great as it looks.

 

As the original build sheet, VIN plate and trim tag collectively indicate this car was built in Atlanta, GA on the 4th week of January as a 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 396. The exterior color was (55) - Medium Gold and the interior color was (770) - Saddle. It was equipped with the following options in order of code on build sheet:  (A01)-All tinted glass, (B22)- SS emblems, (B96)- wheel opening moldings, (C56)-side vent, (D88)- hood and deck stripes, (F41)- special performance suspension, (G94)- 331 ratio axle, (J50)- power brakes, (JL2)-power front disc, (L34)- 396 4-barrell V8, (M21)- 4-speed-close ratio, (PL4)- F70x14WH,  (U63)-push button radio, (U76)-windshield antenna, (U80)-auxiliary rear speaker, (ZL2)-special duct hood, (ZL3)-SS 396 conversion. This car was shipped to Dave Hallman Chevrolet located in Roanoke, VA. From the information gathered it spent its entire life in Virginia. This was a frame off restoration. As the restoration receipts indicate it was restored by the same owner in Virginia over a 10 year period and was completed around 2013. It was sold in 2016 to the next owner who also lived in Virginia. MS CLASSIC CARS purchased in April of 2020 from this owner. MS CLASSIC CARS was very satisfied with the car cosmetically but not mechanically. MS CLASSIC CARS replaced the existing 454 with a brand new GM Performance 454HO/438HP crate engine.  MS CLASSIC CARS the 4-speed manual transmission professionally rebuilt. MS CLASSIC CARS rebuilt the 12-bolt POSI rear end. MS CLASSIC CARs also organized all the receipts in date order and placed them in a new binder with plastic sleeves. This binder is included.

 

The exterior of this car is absolutely beautiful and easy on the eyes. From the information gathered the car retains a lot of original sheet metal. The body is straight with very nice gaps lines throughout. The functioning cowl induction hood has hood pins in conjunction with a hood latch. The doors open and close like you’d expect them to when the car was new. During the restoration the decision was made to change the original color of Medium Gold to Astro Blue which is a factory correct color. Astro Blue is a very attractive color especially with black racing stripes. The paint on this car is show quality and has been detailed to a brilliant shine. A total of $22,225.00 was spent on the body and paint work during the restoration which is documented with a descriptive receipt that is included. All of the glass is new and looks amazing. All of the glass trim also looks amazing. Everything on the exterior has been restored or replaced such as the wipers, dual mirrors, door handles, grille, headlights, front bumper, wheel moldings, tail panel, taillights, rear bumper and emblems. The sits on the correct style 14” SS wheels which are wrapped with Uniroyal Tiger Paw GT3 215-70-14 tires.

 

The interior of this car is also absolutely beautiful and complements the exterior perfectly. During the restoration the decision was made to change the original color of Saddle to Black which is a factory correct color. The black color really looks sharp. Some of the interior trim was from Legendary Interiors as documented with receipts. Everything in the interior was restored or replaced such as the headliner, dome light, sun visors, rear view mirror, dash pad, dash, gauge cluster, dash hardware, astro vents, steering column, steering wheel, door panels, door sills, door hardware, bucket seats, seat belts, center console, Hurst shifter and carpeting. MS CLASSIC CARS added a new set of four carpeted floor mats that Chevelle on each mat. Everything is in working order with exception of the radio. This car is equipped with power steering which works excellent. The trunk compartment was nicely restored and finished with the correct splatter paint. It’s equipped with a full size spare tire and jack tools.

 

The engine compartment is highly detailed throughout and looks similar to the way it left the factory. The backside of the hood was painted the body color and looks great. The firewall, inner fenders and radiator support were painted black. This car is powered by a new GM Performance 454HO V8 crate engine that is rated with 438HP. MS CLASSIC CARS ordered this crate engine which is warrantied through GM. MS CLASSIC CARS painted the block orange like the factory did. The engine is dressed with the correct style chrome valve covers and air cleaner. It has a new Holley Street Brawler 750 carburetor, HEI distributor and Taylor wires.  This engine has been dialed in and runs excellent. This car has only 12 horsepower less than a factory 1970 Chevelle SS 454 LS6 which was rated at 450HP. The engine is cooled by a new radiator and the hoses have the correct style clamps. It has a Delco Energizer Battery topper and correct style battery cables. The engine breathes through factory style exhaust manifolds and a stainless steel exhaust system with Flowmaster mufflers. The engine is coupled to a Muncie M21 4-speed manual transmission. MS CLASSIC CARS had the transmission professionally rebuilt and it shifts smoothly. MS CLASSIC CARS also added a new McLeod clutch which is super easy to operate. The power is transferred to the pavement through the GM 12-Bolt POSI rear end. MS CLASSIC CARS rebuilt the rear end. This Chevelle is ready to rock and roll.

 

The undercarriage is also highly detailed throughout and looks similar to the way it left the factory. The underneath of this car is definitely mirror quality for a car show. The floors are beautiful and have been painted black. Everything underneath has been restored or replaced such as the gas tank, gas lines, steering components, suspension system and power braking system.
