Classic Cars prettier than this one. Finished in stunning Coral
Red, this Beetle underwent a pan-off restoration and features
new-old stock, refurbished and new parts from Wolfsburg West. The
quality of the restoration is top notch and you will be hard
pressed to find another in this condition! This Bug led a sheltered
like hailing from Phoenix Arizona and is still sold on a Arizona
title. This gorgeous example was made during June 1959 in
Wolfsburg, East Germany. Dressed in Coral Red paint, the car?s
paint and trim are in overall excellent condition. As expected, the
bodywork is straight and solid, the engine bay is extremely tidy,
the trunk is in similar condition, the classic glass Hella
headlights look fantastic and the chrome bumpers with bumper guards
look brilliant. In back are LED taillights. The beige folding
canvas sunroof?s condition mirrors the rest of this Bug?s exterior.
This Bug rolls on whitewall American Classic tires, size 5.60R15 at
all four corners. Each tire is mounted on a steel wheel with a
body-colored beauty ring and factory chrome wheel covers. The tires
are newer while the wheels are in very excellent order. As part of
its restoration, this Bug has had its engine revamped. It features
a dual-port Okrasa kit, a bigger head, dual carburetors, matched
intakes and a quad-pipe Abarth exhaust system. The motor is linked
to a four-speed manual transmission. The TS-1200 kit consisted of a
pair of Okrasa high compression twin-port cylinder heads with twin
port manifolds (VW only offered single port heads at that time),
dual Solex 32PBIC carbs as used on early Porsche 356s, and carb
linkages, balance pipes etc. Optional extras included a Fram oil
filter which could be mounted on the fanhousing and Okrasa's own
oil cooler which consisted of some coiled copper tubing which sat
behind the fanhousing thereby being cooled by the air being sucked
in. The new heads offered a compression ratio boost from 6.6 to
7.5:1. In 1956, Martin Herzog started importing the Okrasa kits
into the US for the American VW Parts company EMPI and they
advertised that it would cut the 0-60 time by 12 seconds. They also
stated that it increased the HP from 36 to around 48 with "No sign
of overheating reported, even in desert" Inside, the freshly
restored beige interior with German square-weave carpet and Mohair
headliner are all in excellent condition. The front buckets and
rear bench are in overall very good order with some very minor
blemishes on the driver?s side. The complementing carpeting and the
Mohair headliner mirror the condition of the seats. A two-spoke,
off-white steering wheel offers some contrast to the interior but
the horn is inoperable. The Coral Red metal instrument panel has a
VDO speedometer and fuel gauge and looks great while the inner door
panels are in very good order. The floor-mounted shifter matches
the steering wheel in color and condition. Competition to this VW
in 1959 included Chevrolet?s new-for-1960 Corvair, Nash?s
Metropolitan and Rambler?s American. While enlarging the rear
window was a big Beetle change for 1958, changes for 1959 were
under the skin ? chassis reinforcements, clutch and fan belt
improvements. If you?re into classic Beetles, this could be the one
for you. It wears a stunning paint shade, has more performance
under the hood than usual with the power of Okrasa and benefits
from that recent pan-off restoration. Old VWs always generate
smiles and waves from passers-by. This would be a great car to take
to a cruise night or car show; while there might be other VWs
there, most would probably not be as old as this 60 year old time
capsule! VIN: 2504927 EIN: 3717628 This car is currently located at
our facility in St. Louis, Missouri. Current mileage on the
odometer shows 9,562 miles. It is sold as is, where is, on a clean
and clear, mileage exempt title. GET OUT AND DRIVE!!!? Note: Please
