Cincy Classic Cars is proud to offer this 1981 Factory 4 Speed Trans AM which is a low factory production TA being only 1 of 3225 4 Speed T-Top TA's made in 1981.  This TA is in excellent overall stock condition and has been nicely restored.  This Trans Am features a beautiful repaint in factory Bright Blue with new decals, a restored interior, and a nice running 350 Chevy.  This Trans Am has no visible rust on body or underneath and is very solid with great lines and gaps.  This Trans Am is finished in the beautiful and desirable color combinations of Bright Blue (code 20) over Dark Blue Cloth interior.  This is the factory color scheme as verified on the trim tag pictured above.  The previous owner had this TA for 23 years and always had it tucked away in the garage.

Exterior

The Bright Blue exterior is in beautiful restored condition.  This Trans Am was treated to a professional repaint in factory Bright Blue with all new decals and trim. The paint is in fantastic condition and shines very well with no signs of visible rust and both bumpers are in great shape with no flaking, faded paint, or spider webbing.  The decals look new and are in excellent shape.  The nose emblem and bumper grills were replaced.  New window sweeps and all weatherstripping was changed with new pieces.  There may be some minor imperfections that are not noticeable in the photos, but nothing was intentionally excluded from the photos.  The tires have nice tread left and the Rally Wheels are restored OEM originals and are in great shape.  These are the correct wheels that came on the car with original trim rings.  Trunk is very solid and clean with the original space saver spare tire and jack, with a correct felt trunk mat.

Interior

The Dark Blue deluxe cloth interior of this Trans Am is mostly original and in terrific shape.  The seat covers are in excellent condition with no noticeable wear, rips, stains or seam splits.  They were recovered with correct NOS cloth material and seat foam was added for comfort.  The carpet was replaced and looks new in the car with no stains, no holes, or rips.  The original dash is in excellent condition with no cracks or fading and the dash bezel is in great condition as well.  The original style AM/FM stereo is still in the car today but does not power up.  The door panels were replaced with new deluxe door panels which are in great shape and both door pulls are solid and in tact.  The headliner and package tray have both been replaced and are in great overall condition.  All interior lights and gauges work as they should outside of the clock.  The horn, stereo, wipers and rear defrost also work.  This car has not been smoked in; there is no aroma what so ever.  The console was replaced with a new unit which does not require the computer.

Mechanical

This Trans Am is in good mechanical condition and has been upgraded with an early 1970's 350 Chevy engine.  The engine runs good and was just tuned up and a new HEI MSD distributor was installed.  A new proper Q Jet Carb. was purchased and installed and the intake was changed to an Edelbrock unit.  The factory computer was bypassed and now the car performs much better and is able to be tuned.  The transmission appears to be original as well as several of the vin characters match the photo below of the transmission vin stamp, but its still a little difficult to read.  We have driven this car numerous times and it always performs well, does not run hot, rides tight, and is always a joy to drive.  In the video one can observe this car running and driving with no excessive rattles or noises, and the car handles and performs very well.  This Trans Am is a good driver that feels great on the road and at highway speeds.  There is no smoke when starting or driving the car.  It starts right away every time, idles well, and runs excellent.  A new radiator was added and the coolant was just flushed and new coolant was added.  The brakes do not pull and stop as they should.  True dual exhaust was added on this TA and long tube headers were added as well.  1981 four speed TA's had factory strait pipes in the rear but splitter tips could be added if desired for that classic TA look.  Also, the  Original engine is very clean and nicely detailed as one can see from the photos.
