1965 Pontiac GTO - Tri Power - 4 Speed - Show Quality - PHS
Documentation
This GTO will make you proud wherever you go! PHS (Pontiac
Historical Services) verified, and ready to have fun with and enjoy
from the moment it's yours! After twenty years of loving care and
exceptional stewardship, our seller has decided to pass the keys to
the new proud owner.
Built at the Kansas plant, this GTO came from the factory with the
389 CID 360 HP Tri-Power (WS Code) and the 4 Speed Manual M-20
Transmission. The front of the engine block is stamped "WS", the
casting number is 9778789, the date code is A285 (January 28,
1965). The car was built the last week of January (from the Data
Plate on the Firewall), and the invoice date for the Build History
Card is February 5, 1965. Other build data from PHS indicates "Teal
Turquoise" Paint with the Turquoise Interior; H.D. Metalic Brake
Linings; Safe-T-Track Differential; AM Radio; Underhood Lamp; Dual
Speed Wipers; Inside Tilt Mirror; Deluxe Wheel Covers; Back-Up
Lamps; Verba-Phonic Speaker; All Lamps Package (Trunk, Parking
Brake, Courtesy, etc.); Rally Gauge Cluster & Tachometer; Safety
Soft Ray Glass (Tinted) All Windows; Console, and Transistor
Ignition system. Other features and/or upgrades include HURST
Wheels (!); Red Line Tires, "Ram Air"-"Air Scoop Package" (allows
forced air induction through the factory hood scoop); Ram Air III
Cam with Hi Pump Lifters, Power Steering, and Power Brakes; Power
Drivers Seat; "Wood" Steering Wheel; AM/FM Radio; Padded Dash; Rear
Window Defrost (Blower); "Splitter Exhaust" tips and the Console
Mounted Vacuum Gauge.
Our seller purchased this GTO while living in California, as a full
restoration, approximately twenty years ago. He has since retired
and moved to Savanna, Georgia. During his ownership, he has only
driven it less than 8,000 miles. The odometer shows under 78,000
Miles. The overall condition is still "show quality" and it has
been proven to be an outstanding, dependable driver as well. The
paint is exceptional. The interior is excellent. The undercarriage
is remarkable. The Suspension and Frame have been Powder Coated. It
has Boxed Rear Upper and Lower Control Arms, and all frame body
mounts have been replaced with Polyurethane. He tells us that
mechanically, it is "turn-key" ready.
During his ownership, it has had a number of Magazine mentions and
has won numerous Trophies and Awards at the Shows. Have you seen
the Maisto 1:18 Scale Diecast Model of the 1965 Pontiac GTO Hurst
Edition? He has the documentation that this is the car that the
Model was created from. Please call ahead for an appointment to
view this amazing 1965 GTO.
