BODY OVERVIEW: The body on this 300D is clean and straight,
especially for a car with this kind of mileage. While it shows some
minor signs of use here and there, this car looks to have been
meticulously taken care of all of its life. The body on this car is
truly in incredible condition, and must be seen in person to be
fully appreciated.
PAINT CONDITION OVERVIEW: The paint is said to be original, and if
that is the case, it is in amazing condition. The original dealer
badge is in place on the trunk, which adds to the original paint
claim. There are some minor imperfections here and there, but with
277,000 miles on the odometer this paint might as well be brand
new. The Moss Green color is not often seen on the W123s, and
really suits the styling of the car.
INTERIOR CONDITION OVERVIEW: Much like the exterior of this car,
the interior is in remarkable condition for the age and mileage.
While some areas show slight warping from age, such as the moldings
around the inside of the windows, the seats, door cards, dash, and
everything else are in excellent condition. The original first aid
kit is intact and in place. The seats are covered in MB Tex, and it
has held up very well over the years with only slight wear showing
on the driver's seat outer bolster.
MECHANICAL OVERVIEW: Under the hood is ol' reliable: the
Mercedes-Benz OM617 5-cylinder turbo-diesel engine. The engine in
this car runs like a clock; slow and steady, just as it should.
Once at operating temperature, this car runs incredibly smoothly.
While the engine does drip some oil, this is to be expected of a
37-year-old car encroaching upon 300,000 miles. It fires right up
every time! The air conditioning and heat both work properly, and
this car is a pleasure to drive. It isn't fast, but it has enough
pickup to be comfortable and will get you where you're going!
WHAT YOU'LL LOVE ABOUT THIS CAR: The amount of receipts, documented
low ownership history, and how well it has clearly been
maintained.
WHAT YOU MIGHT HATE ABOUT THIS CAR: If speed is your thing, this
300D is not.
