Vehicle Description
1946 Ford Super Deluxe Street Rod
What Makes This Car Special
Ford Motor Company introduced its Deluxe line in 1938 as an upscale
alternative to bridge the gap between its base model and luxury
Lincoln offerings.
The "Deluxe" name was used intermittently before and after this to
specify an upscale trim, but the De Luxe Ford line was
differentiated as a separate "marque within a marque" with separate
styling and pricing.
The 1946 Ford Deluxe Street Rod we have at Skyway Classics is a
one-of-a-kind car that is both current as a cruiser but nostalgic
if you want an "old time" cruiser too.
Mechanical
To start with our Deluxe has had a frame off restoration done in
mid-1990's with only 361 miles on the clock since that restoration.
It is powered by a 351 cubic inch V-8 Ford engine, with chrome
Moroso valve covers and open element air cleaner, high performance
spark plug wires, looms and coil, performance carb, tube headers,
and more sitting in a clean and detailed engine compartment.
The engine is backed by an automatic transmission and also has
power steering and a redone modified frame with a Ford Heavy Duty
rear end.
Interior
The interior has black/red custom cloth plush bucket seats and a
matching rear seat. The complete custom painted and detailed dash
has an assortment of both factory and Stewart Warner aftermarket
performance gauges, performance shifter, VDO tach, red carpet with
black floor mats, Clarion stereo radio, as well as great door
panels and headliner..
Exterior
Our 1946 2 Door Coupe has an "All Steel" black and red exterior
with like new paint, great chrome, bumpers, trim and rides on
Cragar custom mag wheels with B.F. Goodrich Radial TA tires.
