It's the quintessential hot rod - a 1955 Chevrolet 210 2-door post
sedan. In fact, these are so highly prized by racers and
customizers that it has become increasingly rare to see one in
restored-to-original condition. But few automobiles can lay claim
to more historical significance. 1955 was the first year for the
small block Chevy, and this car has its original 265 including the
optional oil filter. The recipient of a thorough restoration in
2018, the car has accumulated only about a thousand miles since.
That's a good number -- just enough to see to it that things are in
order. Things are indeed in order; from the lush original colors
Gypsy Red and India Ivory paint to the correct OEM 210 trim to the
full wheel covers; to those fabulous, instantly recognizable
bumpers. This '55 is delightfully uncomplicated. Manual steering,
drum brakes, 3-on-the-tree, crank windows, and AM Radio. It's
anything but spartan, though. A Delray black and white interior
with fresh carpeting and upholstery takes you right back to the
'50's. And just to showcase the original condition of the car, the
original door panels were retained. Highlighting the interior is
the now famous 55 Chevy dash with clear gauges and shiny
brightwork, replete with hundreds of little bowties. Even the best
customizers could never improve on it. The pristine trunk contains
the original spare wheel (with the proper silver stripe) and a
Firestone Deluxe Champion tire. If you've read this far you know
that the turning point this vehicle represents for Chevrolet cannot
be overstated. It was the first of the "tri-five" Chevys. This 1955
Chevrolet 210 2-door post is a marvelous representative of a great
time in automotive history, and indeed in US history. You'll love
how this authentic classic drives. When you see it, you may be
tempted to modify it. That's okay, there couldn't be a better
foundation. Or you can simply own and enjoy a true historical
artifact. This is a car truly deserving of the revered title "55
Chevy."
