This one-of-a-kind 1965 Ford Mustang Convertible Custom has been nick named “Heart-throb” because it’s unique styling is total eye candy. As the VIN number indicates this car was built in Dearborn, MI as a 1965 Ford Mustang Convertible with a 289 V8. This car was the product of a complete restoration and has less than 500 miles since completion. During the build custom body pieces were beautifully molded onto the car such as the front end, side scoops, lower moldings and rear end. It sports a fiberglass Shelby GT350 style hood with billet hood pins. The body is really straight with excellent gap lines throughout unlike many Mustangs with custom body pieces. It was finished in a beautiful shade of red with white racing stripes. The paint job is show quality and the stripes were buried under the clear coat. The paint was recently detailed to a brilliant shine. The lower GT 350 stripes are decals and look great. It has a brand new black cloth convertible top with a new rear glass window that was professionally installed. This is a power convertible top which fits and works very nicely. It has a brand new front windshield and the windshield trim was beautifully restored. The side glass and glass trim is in nice original condition. Everything on the exterior was restored or replaced such as the wiper arms, antenna, dual chrome bullet mirrors, door handles, front upper and lower grille, custom headlights, cobra emblems, taillight bezels, smoked taillight lenses and billet Cobra gas cap. The metal rear bumper was tucked and painted for a clean look. The car sits on 17” American Racing polished wheels that are wrapped with new Presa PSAS1 225-45-17 tires.

The two-tone red and black interior complements the exterior perfectly. Everything has been restored or replaced such as the sun visors, dash pad, gauge bezel, dash hardware, glove box door, T-handle shifter, door panels and carpeting. Some custom interior features include Autometer white face gauges, brushed Ididit tilt steering column, Lecarra Cobra style steering wheel, Pro Car high bucket seats with seat belts, center console w/ cup holders and storage, door sills, billet door hardware, power trunk release and carpeted floor mats with Mustang logo. It also has a custom sound system with a Kenwood stereo, Hertz kicker panel speakers and Polk rear panel speakers. The trunk compartment was restored and rhino-lined and then painted with trunk splatter paint.

The engine compartment is nicely detailed throughout with many custom features. The firewall, inner fenders and radiator were painted black. The strut tower brace and fender support bar are new. It has a new Painless wiring harness. It also has EM billet hood hinges which look great. The car is powered by a rebuilt 302 V8 engine with an estimated 350hp. The engine runs and performs excellent. The engine has a roller cam, Edelbrock Performer heads, Edelbrock RPM Air Gap intake, Edlebrock 600CFM carburetor, Edlebrock fuel line, CRV Performance thermostat housing and custom pulleys. The engine was dressed with Ford Racing black valve covers and air cleaner. The electronic ignition system consists of an MSD Hi-Fi box, MSD billet distributor, Flame Thrower II coil and Taylor wires. It’s equipped with an Optima Red top battery with power cut off knob and aluminum hold down case. The engine is cooled by an aluminum radiator with an electric fan and aluminum overfill canister. The engine breathes through ceramic headers and a custom exhaust with Flowmaster mufflers. It’s equipped with power rack and pinion steering which works great when operating. The engine is coupled to a T5 Borg Warner 5-speed manual transmission. This is a heavy-duty transmission and with overdrive it makes highway driving a pleasure. It has a hydraulic clutch that is easy to use. The power is transferred to the rebuilt Currie Ford 9” POSI rear end with 3.50 gears.

The undercarriage was painted black and is very clean. Everything underneath was restored or replaced including the suspension and braking system. It has lowering springs on the front and Under Rider traction bars on the rear. It’s equipped with power four wheel disc brakes. This Mustang drives and handles very nicely.
