P1R 13949 was completed at the Browns Lane Jaguar works on June 1,
1970 as a LHD open two-seater, wearing Signal Red paintwork over
Black upholstery and matching top. The E-Type was dispatched on
July 15, 1970 and delivered new to Nicaragua Machinery Co. of
Managua, Nicaragua - as verified by Jaguar Heritage Trust and
displayed in an elegant embossed leather binder. The chassis no.
prefix "P" denotes the car was originally fitted with power
steering, which was typically coupled with air conditioning, also
indicated by the reverse mounted alternator on this particular
Roadster.
The Jaguar made its way stateside, where eventually it would
receive a complete restoration by Chicago Restorations early in the
new millennium. Now wearing an opposite, yet incredibly striking
livery of Black paintwork over a Red cabin and black top. The
exterior's paint and brightwork are both glossy and very
presentable for casual show or spirited touring. Correct in form,
the pampered interior features leather seating and vinyl surrounds,
along with a proper Becker Europa II radio (newly restored), Leaper
lap belts, and supplemental AMCO rubber floor mats. A 15-inch
steering wheel - correct in original appearance, but slightly
smaller, offers ease of entry to the captain's chair. The vinyl top
shows well and tight with clear window and a matching boot cover
for open motoring. Chrome wire wheels are complemented by new
185R15 Coker Classic Redline tires and Michelin tubes.
Both the engine bay and luggage compart are exceptionally tidy and
generally correct in form, equipment, finishes and decals. The rear
contains a matching spare tire assembly, while the front retains
its numbers-matching engine. The driving feel is as one would
imagine - sporty, tight and very responsive. A recent January 2020
inspection, tune-up and scheduled maintenance addressed a top-end
(cylinder head) rebuilt, along with associated gaskets, hardware,
hoses, filters and fluids. As well as new battery, tires, ignition
and intake components for continued excellent road manners.
We offer this striking and very late XKE Series II OTS Roadster for
worldwide purchase and delivery from our Houston, Texas
showroom.
