For your consideration is a beautiful 1951 Mercury Eight Coupe. This two-door beauty hasn’t been chopped up, it hasn’t had a heart transplant. In its original color, you can still enjoy the powerful Flat Head Mercury while shifting its manual 3-speed with OD!
Exterior:
Repainted to original 1951 Mercury color, the paint is in good shape. Its not perfect but in very good shape. There are some blemishes in the paint but it will still hang with the cars at your local cruise. The paint appears to be a modern base/clear coat. There are no evidence of rust issues, major rust repair or accidents. The car is straight and true. Stainless steel trim, chrome, handles, bumpers and exterior emblems are in fantastic shape. The glass is in great shape and the windows go up and down as they should. Hood, doors, trunk all open and close as they should.
Interior
The interior is in good shape. There are some blemishes in the far corner of the rear seat and the door panels are not perfect. The headliner is in excellent condition along with the carpet and dash. Bright work and gauge glass looks great!
Mechanical and underside:
The 255 CI Mercury V-8 Flathead is proper! It starts, idles, runs and pulls as it should. It runs VERY well, its reliable and does not over heat even in summer temperatures. The 3 speed OD transmission shifts smoothly! This powerful car goes down the road straight. Clutch, brakes and fluids are in great condition. Dual exhaust sounds great and is very fitting to the car. The underside, floors and chassis of the car look to be in great condition. The only thing holding this car back truly being very mechanically strong are the springs. There are spacers on the front and the rear of the car. New springs really should be put on the car for it to be mechanically proper. The wide white-wall tires have lots of tread remaining but they are older.
With all of our cars, an appraisal and mechanical assessment can be had upon request.
