The Maybach brand is named as such for Wilhelm Maybach, an engineer for Gottlieb Daimler,  who designed combustion engines at the turn of the 20th century.  Wilhelm left Daimler in 1907 and developed the Maybach brand which was known for their large, powerful and very luxurious automobiles.  Maybach catered to the exclusive and wealthy up until WWII.  After the war, automobile production never restarted.  Daimler-Benz purchased the company in 1960, however left the name mostly dormant until recently.  At the time of the mid 1990’s, the new merger entity of DaimlerChrysler sought to produce the most luxury automobile for the turn of the century.  Utilizing Mercedes-Benz’ long tradition of quality and luxury, the Maybach brand was revived as the pinnacle in automotive luxury.

First shown as a concept at the 1997 Tokyo Auto Show, the rebirth of the Maybach name represented the height of luxury and elegance for automobiles in the 2000s.  Maybach exploited the quality of Mercedes-Benz and the highest level of detail and craftsmanship.  Each Maybach utilized the very best automotive technology and safety available.  Extensive use of fine wood trim lines the cabin and everything else is trimmed in supple Nappa leather.  Less than 3,000 Maybachs were produced for all variants for the rebirth of the brand as its own separate model.  Today the Maybach brand lives on but only as a top tier trim level on Mercedes Benz models.

Originally purchased in Texas this Maybach 57 has been exceptionally cared for since new.  The condition today exemplifies the 57 has always been well serviced and maintained regardless of use.  After 13 years of ownership in Texas, the Maybach was sold via a Mercedes-Benz dealer here in the Northeast to its second owner.  The Maybach is simply superb throughout.  The beauty of the standard Maybach at 5.7 meters makes it a very comfortable and maneuverable driver’s car or a car to be chauffeured in with the amount of luxury rear seat amenities.   The Maybach is complete with all original books, keys, jack, spare tire, umbrella, headphones, champagne flutes and window sticker.  This Maybach is ready for immediate touring or around town enjoyment.
