The Aurelia was the first production car to be powered by a V6
engine. It was one of the most sporting cars of its day, having
state-of-the-art construction techniques, a rear mounted transaxle
and the Vittorio Jano-designed engine. These cars proved successful
in sports car racing, endurance events and rallies throughout the
1950s.
Lancia introduced a sporting Pinin Farina-designed Spider in 1954,
intended for the American market. The Spider was replaced after a
brief production run with a more developed Convertible.
Between 1956 and 1958, Lancia built just 521 B24 Convertibles those
remaining are coveted by drivers and collectors throughout the
world.
This beautiful Lancia Aurelia B24S convertible has a well-known
documented history with ownership trail tracing back to 1965. In
1977 Mr. Facundo Bigioni of the Toronto, Canada purchased the
Lancia and it would remain in the Bigioni family for more than four
decades. In 2019 Lancia Classiche issued a Certificate of Origin
detailing the build information as follows: built September 12,
1957 painted Grigio and dressed with red leather interior.
Importantly the B24S retains its original engine number 1554,
original cylinder head dated 9-5-57, original differential and
front suspension. Coach number 00446 is found stamped on the
firewall and the PininFarina body number "18643" is found stamped
on the trunk latch, trunk floor, and hood. The original Sekurit
glass is date stamped 8-4-55 and the soft top is original.
Never restored but thoughtfully preserved #1445 remains beautiful
condition. The engine compression is 155-160 PSI throughout all six
cylinders. The mileage of 56,045 is believed to be original. The
paint was applied decades ago and remains presentable suited as a
"driver". The interior has re-upholstered seats and door cards
while the carpeting and mats remain original. The underside is
impressive as it displays original factory coating on very solid
chassis and floor pans. Likewise, the trunk exhibits a solid pan
and original factory padding. The Lancia Aurelia B20 and B24 series
are considered amongst the most beautiful and refined Italian grand
touring cars of the 1950's. This stunning example is now available
for worldwide purchase and delivery from our Houston, Texas
showroom.
Included with the sale is a binder containing ownership history,
registrations, a bill of sale from 1977, period photos, a Lancia
Certificate of Origin, a Nardi kit, tool bag, jack, and workshop
manual.
Note: Titled as a 1958-year model
