For Sale: 1941 Chevrolet Suburban in Charlotte, North Carolina

Vehicle Description

In automotive history several companies in the United States used the Suburban designation to indicate a windowed, station wagon type body on a commercial frame including Dodge, Plymouth, Studebaker, Nash, Chevrolet and GMC. Chevrolet began production of its all-steel carryall-suburban in 1935. GMC brought out its version in 1937. Focused on functionality, these vehicles were originally known as the Suburban Carryall, the concept was literally to carry all - the whole family and their gear were to find enough space in one truck. As the success of the multipurpose truck grew GM eventually cut the name to simply Suburban. Sharing the same front sheet metal and frames of the half-ton pickup models of the same era these all-metal wagon bodies differed very little in shape from contemporary woody wagons. Seating for up to eight occupants was available, with three in the front row, two in the middle row and three in the rear row. These early models were offered in versatile formats that included a choice of either tailgate style or barn panel style rear doors. The third generation Suburban was only built in model years 1941, 1942 and 1946 and during the war it remained as a military transport vehicle. This exquisite example has been restored to original perfection and includes its 216 cubic-inch six-cylinder engine which features a period-correct Wayne-Chevy cylinder head and Offenhauser intake manifold. Wayne and Offenhauser were the premiere Chevrolet high-performance aftermarket manufacturers of the day. The exterior sheet metal looks like it is new with a terrific two-tone paint scheme with red accent striping. All the chrome, glass and trim are excellent. The high-level quality carries over into the cavernous interior that features vinyl bench seating and superbly finished wood flooring. Here is your chance to own a beautifully restored early model Suburban that is ready to be enjoyed.
